Title: Simultaneous Release Post by: bsfins on January 25, 2006, 07:18:49 pm I just got done seeing a CBS evening new story, that I really liked..
Steven Soderbergh's new movie Bubble will be realsed in the movie theaters, then days later Pay-per-view and DVD.Of course the movie theater business is oppsed to this, they're getting cut out of the loop. Personally,I love this idea,I hate to go to the movies. I also understand the downside, the loss of americana of going out to a night at the movies. It's funny to me walk in theaters are saying it's aloss of americana, but It was ok,the movie business survived pretty much without Drive ins... They also mentioned about,I believe it was Microsoft, trying to get first release movies downloaded directly to your computer. How do you feel about being able to watch a movie that was just released on PPV,or DVD a week or so after it's release? As far as this type of "simultaneous release" goes, I actually enjoy going to the movies to see a first-run film, so I probably wouldn't go for this type of thing. He said something about it that made sense- Maybe if it was a good movie they were doing it to, it would be worth talking about.
