Title: Will Muschamp gone Post by: Phishfan on February 03, 2006, 04:23:06 pm He left to become the new DC for Auburn.
Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: bsfins on February 03, 2006, 04:59:21 pm So that makes Dom Capers our Defensive coordinator?
(just an Assumption...) Boy that hire is looking better everyday..... Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: Phishfan on February 03, 2006, 05:12:38 pm I am wondering if Saban new about these moves before hiring Capers? I thought it was odd that we added a new defensive coach without any leaving. This was kept very quiet.
Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: Sunstroke on February 03, 2006, 05:22:39 pm Pretty much has to be one of two scenarios, as far as I can see it...
1) Saban saw Muschamp's departure coming, and that it was directly related to bringing Capers here in the first place. 2) Saban and Muschamp have issues (personally or D-philosophy related) that wasn't publicized which led Nick to hire Capers. Muschamp, seeing the writing on the wall, accepts the Auburn offer. He worked with Saban at LSU and Michigan St. Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: Sunstroke on February 03, 2006, 07:01:17 pm I'm guessing it was the first one. Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: Phishfan on February 03, 2006, 07:13:41 pm Then this raises the question of why Muschamp left? He is still going to be the defensive coordinator and now at the college level. I can't imagine Auburn is going to give him more money.
Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: SCFinFan on February 03, 2006, 07:29:38 pm Also, what do you guys think now that our D rides solely on the brain of Dom Capers?
For some reason that makes me very nervous. Title: Re: Will Muschamp gone Post by: fyo on February 03, 2006, 07:32:20 pm I thought Richard Smith was our DC? Ahhh, I hate it when teams invent all kinds of weird new titles, totally screwing with the sense of hierarchy ;-)
Although, with the number of "coaches" we have, some creative titling is probably a must... From what I understand it was a co-duty. Smith formulated the gameplan and Muschamp called the actual plays (or was it vice versa). In regards to the Capers comment I have no worries. The guy is a defensive genius. Just becuase he had a rough time in Texas doesn't mean anything. The guy had the whole show in his hands then, not just the defense. |
