Title: Yoga Supplement???
Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on February 22, 2006, 10:47:53 pm
Here's a posting from Bob Flanders at DolphinBlog.com.

Yoga Supplement?

I have to admit that until a couple of days ago, I had no idea that a Yoga supplement existed. I know you've got to stretch and meditate while doing Yoga, but I didn't know that a supplement went along with it.

Let me stop this post for a short qualifier. We have no idea to this date that a Yoga supplement is what caused Rickys test to come back positive. It's all speculation to this point. We do know that it isn't Pot which in my mind should eliminate 99 percent of the bullshit being said about Ricky.

But let's just say that it is a supplement and it is used for Yoga. Is this enough to suspend Ricky for a year? Is this enough to hurt the Miami Dolphin's organization? Is it just me thinking that this is fucking crazy?

Where's the outrage?

If this was Ricky's first offense and we found out that it was a supplement causing all this trouble, how do you think South Florida Phin fans, the writers and pundits would react? Me-thinks they would be outraged and their opinions would reflect that.

They'd be saying, "You've got to be kidding me".

Additionally they'd be slamming the Denver Broncos organization for releasing this confidential information.

Shit, this smacks of a tampering violation big time. Who's to say that they didn't purposely release this to help some kind of free-agency agenda. I'll ask again---where is the Commissioner on this one?

So where's the fucking outrage?

I'm very curios to see how this all plays out if indeed it is something as minor as a errr Yoga supplement.

In addition to this, new reports are coming out that it was a yoga supplement.  If indeed it was a yoga supplement, Ricky should be exonerated.

I don't think theres a ton of outrage yet due to the fact that dolphins fans that have let go of this stupid grudge against da rickster are few and far between.  I still agree with FUCK DENVER.

A blog from Bob Flanders is nothing more than his personal opinion. You are not hearing outrage because there is nothing to be outraged about. If it is a false positive, fine Ricky comes back. If his yoga supplement has a banned substance in it Ricky should be responsible for checking the ingredients, especially since he already knew what his situation was.

Yeah, it is his personal opinion, but read what I wrote underneath.  There are other reports coming out that the supplement had no banned substances in it, but has been known to trigger false positive tests.

Those reports are also opinions because no one really knows what happened other than the NFL and Ricky/Leigh.

If it's a false positive then it happened twice.  If it was a false positive there shouldn't be any outrage that this is taking so long because someone has to prove that Ricky was taking a supplement that causes false positives.  Otherwise, why not just say you ate a dozen extra large poppy seed bagels everytime you got a positive on a drug test  ;D.

If it's a yoga supplement that caused a false positive then yes he should be enoxorated IMO.  A false positive means he didn't do anything wrong -- the testing system did.  If the yoga supplement had a banned substance in it then he shouldn't be enoxorated IMO.  Just because it's not an illicit drug does not mean it's not banned or that the NFL should be more lenient.

As far as who leaked the information, it doesn't matter.  The NFL can't prove who did it.  They can't just punish Denver without any proof.  Plus, who got in trouble when Ricky's news was leaked about his 3rd offense?  No one.

The bottom line is if Ricky had not been busted 3 previous times for drugs then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.  The shadow of doubt should be cast on Ricky IMO, not the drug testing devices.  Those devices are pretty damn accurate.  The odds of a positive drug test being a false positive are probably less than 5%, but 100% of the Ricky lovers seem to think it's a done deal that it was a false positive.  I hope it is because I'd rather see Ricky drug free than not.   But, based on the odds/percentages, I'm not betting on Ricky Williams.

I just found this in a Dr. Z article.  Different subject, but the proverb hold trues here with some folks ...

Very well said Doug.

denver did leak this information out, their dicks, just like their ambassador, the denver dickhead, so I'm not surpised at all.

I think you guys don't understand the point of origin of the "leaked" information. Yes someone in Denver made the initial report, but that is not a leak. A leak would have to come from someone in the NFL, someone from the testing facility, or someone within Ricky's camp. That's how a leak would start.

Denver and any team is entitled to info on any player in the NFL if said team is interested in going after that player via trade or free-agency.

Denver was told by the NFL that Ricky failed his test and then one of the representatives from the Broncos told a Denver TV station.

The leak of confidential info came from the Broncos.

You say that there's no outrage? Denver--- Denver leaked confidential info to the press. And you're OK with that?

Additionally--you say they can't prove that the Broncos leaked the info? Sure they can- The Denver TV station said they got the info from the Denver Broncos. Maybe the Comish can't prove what Bronco official told the TV station--- no matter. The info came from the organization so you fine the whole orgainization.

No, it makes no difference to me that the information is out there. You would have found out eventually, when training camp started and there is no Ricky Williams. This is no national security issue so who cares. I would personally rather know this now than months later.

From the Miami Herald:

One prominent agent backed Steinberg's assertion that the breach of confidentiality hurts Williams.

''The worst part about this whole thing is that it became public, and now the league is going to be in a corner having to defend its public image against the guy who is the poster child for the [substance-abuse] program,'' the agent said. ``I've had plenty of situations where I've had a player go to the league, the whole thing has stayed quiet, and gotten the failed test worked out so that there was no fine or suspension.''

I think the only problem I have with Denver releasing this info is that if there is no suspension (a false positve, for example), then Ricky's image is still tarnished, and it hurts the Phins organization.  It was a team issue beforehand, and now it's not.  It's a public image issue, in addition.

I don't know that the word I'd use it "outrage", though.  Unfortunate, maybe.  It's a business, and it's not Denver's job to protect our image, especially for a guy they're shooting to acquire.  This probably lowered Ricky's trade value, legit or not.

You do know that Saban's pissed about this and Leigh Steinberg thinks that somebody should be fired for it. Are they on a different planet?

Oh hell---what am I doing engaging in a debate with a Bronco fan? After all, it's a known fact that a Bronco fan is on the same evolutionary level as a Jet's fan.

Shame on me.

Dave Grey--- Sorry dude...but this is why I don't post often on forums. Suffering fools gladly is not one of my stronger suits and I usually start some serious flame wars.

Bob don't leave because denvers an idiot, you just have to treat him like what he really is, short bus. This dude is so stupid and dilluted that he believes the life of sin that he is so proud of is the right way to live, and whats worse is he claims to be a "role model" to his child.  Which he probably is, which is unfortunate for that young child because he's going to end up a law breaking loser, just like his father, but hey atleast that way denver will have company in hell when he gets there.   I just pray that maybe someday denver will actually wise up and realize that people are laughing at him, not with him, but somehow I doubt that will ever.  His perspective of life is too skewn.

Damnit, Predatory_Fins, this thread is about Yoga Supplements...not Denver_Bronco's moral shortcomings.

I had to erase a whole flame war, and now lock this topic.

Knock it off.
