Broncos' LB pleads guilty to DWAI

Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and was sentenced to a year of probation and 24 hours of community service, the Rocky Mountain News reported on its Web site Thursday.

Denver did you see this.

What's the NFL coming to? Ricky hitting  the bong, Williams drinking and driving. What's going on?

Thanks for the story, i hadn't seen this. Don't get me wrong, drinking and driving is a mistake and people shouldn't do it, especially athelets that make millions of dollars and can pay a chauffeur to drive them wherever, but it impairs your judgement. Hopefully he learns from this and it was just a bad decision. Now, if it was to happen again, then he would be considered a problem.

I have been popped for DWI before and its not fun.

What's the difference between a DWAI and a DUI?

DUI is driving with a BAC of .08 or greater depending on which state you live in. DWAI is driving with a BAC of between .04 & .08. Usually what happens with the first one is you get charged with a DWI originally then when you go to court they reduce it to DWAI.

Secondly the difference in the fines are different

DUI in Ny is like $750 fine and loss of liscense for 6-12 months
DWAI is $350 fine and 3 month liscense suspension

Thats it? Florida law is alittle tougher than that.

We encourage people in Maine to drink before they drive.  It makes them a little easier to deal with.

People in Boston don't have anything on Mainers when it comes to aggressive driving.

If MA was smart, they would have passed a low keeping Geico out. I know two people whose insurance went up after switching to Geico. So much for those promises.

Most states consider you drunk at .08 . Does DWAI let them get you even if you've only had a sip now?

If you blow between an .04 or an .08 usually they will just let you go, but they can charge you with just DWAI. A sip wouldn't do it. The basis for most of us on here to be on that level would be about 2-3 drinks in an hour.

The important thing to remember is you can technically still get a DUI while under the .08 limit. With cameras in the cars now that's really all the evidence they need.

Typical, it was DJ Williams.  Add him to the list of NFL thugs and boneheads from the University of Miami:

Santana Moss
Clinton Portis
Kellen Winslow
Sean Taylor
DJ Williams

Like I said before..... you can't spell "scumbag" without UM!!!
