Title: You're the GM - Oakland Raiders
Post by: jtex316 on February 28, 2006, 03:57:25 pm
Welcome to the Silver & Black.  Welcome to hell.

Your franchise has a checkered past if there ever was one, and you have a team loaded with age, egos, attitudes, and the best WR in football.

Oh yeah, and your QB is a former coke-head who looks like he's on it again.

Oh yeah, and your K is a drunk who gets into bar fights

Oh yeah, and your DE is a trash-talking, over-weight has-been bum

Oh yeah, and your fans are obnoxious.

What the hell do you do before you get fired next season?

If I'm one of the lackeys running around the Raiders clubhouse, my plan would be:

* Lure Al Davis into the stadium one day when you know that no one else is going to be inside. Then blow up the stadium, killing and burying the immortal (and evil) Al Davis forever!

* Take the money sent to me from the Raiders office staff, Commissioner Tagliabue, the City of Los Angeles and the 31 other NFL owners as gifts for ending the Al Davis era and build a state of the art retractable roof stadium...in Los Angeles, so I could lay claim to that huge market before the Saints can jump.

* Sign a QB through free agency (so as not to conflict with our good friends in Miami's draft plans)

* Fire the entire defense, replacing with drafted rookies. If not enough rookies to field a full defense, scout the Greyhound terminals for some homeless bums to fill in the missing pieces. They'll still play better defense than last year's Raiders did.

* Hold a party for age 16-17 year old girls only...hire Sea Bass to tend the bar.

* Change the team colors to ultraviolet and chartreuse...so the 49ers fans can laugh at their poor cousins for wearing such lame colors. ..and put a happy face smile on the helmet skull logo.

Unless they are going to get Brees, Culpepper, or have a chance at drafting one of the top 4 QB's in this years draft, I think they need to look more at developing Andrew Walters. I believe this kid has the tools to be a productive starting QB he just needs some time and a chance. Everyone knows they aren't going anywhere this year either with Denver, S.D. and K.C. all in this division so give the kid a year under center and I think they will have their starting QB for years to come. Sidenote.....he is injury prone though!!!!!

Use the draft & free agency to rebuild your D.

You already have a decent RB and some great receivers so try to upgrade the O-line as well.

I'm just curious who you consider the 4th best QB in the draft. The top 3 are very well known, but after that, I kind of thought everyone was lumped together.

Trade Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan for compensatory draft picks.

All their flashy offense did nothing for them.  They didn't have a balanced team, and they didn't have an offense that was consistant.

They need to look at defense, defense, defense.  Then, they need to be creative on offense and find ways to get the ball to their stars.  Lamont Jordan is a very capable player and Moss is...well....Moss.  They might want to look into getting a good passcatching TE to keep the defense off of Moss (perhaps that guy that runs the 40 in like 2 1/2 seconds...I think his name is The Flash.)
