Title: Madison A Giant?
Post by: TonyB0D on March 06, 2006, 03:52:15 pm
the local news has been eating it up around here....and we all know they DO need a LOT of help in the secondary.

personally, i'd LOVE this, as i'm trying to become a giants fan, got my season tickets for next year, but i was having trouble deciding whose jersey to get.  i think i know who i'll be getting if this comes true....

WTF?!????!!!?

Oddly enough, that's the exact same reaction I got from my 49ers buddies about 5-6 years ago when I told them that if I'm not careful, I could end up a Dolphins fan. My cheering for Miami has certainly never stopped me from being a 49ers fan to this point...

Tony...as long as it is a local market team for ya, and it's in "the other" conference, I see no reason why you can't cheer for both. As far as which jersey to get? My favorite player on the current Giants roster has gotta be sack-monster Osi Umenyiora.

Tony, you may have to buy more than one Giants jersey.  From ESPN insider:

Jay Fiedler
Jets Giants? Same city, different team?
<Mar. 6> The Giants' search for a backup to Eli Manning might lead to Fiedler, The Star-Ledger reports. The Giants pursued Fiedler last offseason before the veteran quarterback decided to sign with the Jets.
Pressed into duty early last season when Chad Pennington hurt his shoulder, Fielder suffered a shoulder injury of his own and was placed on injured reserve.

the reasons, as both brian and philly know, are these:

i LOVE football more than almost anything.

i live 5 minutes from Giants stadium.

i love football too much, and am too lucky (to live so close to one of the 31 NFL stadiums) NOT to be going to see live games whenever posssible.

its more fun to root for a team.  i can't just go and "spectate".  and i OBVIOUSLY can't root for the jets because
J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK!!!

my father's best friend moved to NC recently, and has been a longtime Gmen tix holder. i'm buying them from him, so i dont have to sit on the waiting list!

ps

Tony is a closet Jets fan.  I think Phlly has a photo of him worshipping the Jets' exhibit at the HOF.

I guess he thought we weren't looking...

I think Tony needs to get you and Philly on the phone and start negotiating the price of destroying that picture.

Sounds like Quid Pro Quo to me.

I used to like the Patriots, but they suck. I really love the Steelers now.  :D

I think he'll be a very good option as a back up. He is the 'kind' of player I would like to back up Drew Brees ;D

well Madison visited with the G-men today....Pierce is also strongly campaigning for them to sign Arrington as well....add those 2 players to their defense and damn the giants are starting to look pretty good!

When I moved to New York, I wondered if I'd come to like any of the New York teams.  Never happened.

Here in D.C., I have to admit I have warmed up to the teams around here even though they haven't replaced any of my "old" favorites.

Looks like the Giants have made upgrading the secondary a top priority.  They picked up R.W. McQuarters today.  Here's the link:
