Title: Jumping the gun? Post by: Brian Fein on March 14, 2006, 05:35:01 pm There is a paragraph posted on MiamiDolphins.com from some team official that basically says "We haven't made any trade yet - we need to look at the dude first"
They might sick the team doctors on him tomorrow and find out that he's in bad shape. This deal could still fall through. They wouldn't go out of their way on the team's official site to issue that 4-line statement if they weren't concerned. http://www.miamidolphins.com/pressbox/pressreleases/pressreleases.asp?contentID=4379 Title: Re: Jumping the gun? Here's the quote. Quote March 14, 2006 In response to reports that the Minnesota Vikings have confirmed a trade of quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the Dolphins, team spokesman Harvey Greene said "anything we do is contingent upon a player passing a medical exam." Title: Re: Jumping the gun? Post by: Frimp on March 14, 2006, 05:40:32 pm Yep. After seeing that, I doubt we released Frerotte.

I too just saw that and came straight here. I thought that was kind of an odd statement to make after announcing a huge trade!!!!! Title: Re: Jumping the gun? Post by: Phishfan on March 14, 2006, 05:44:29 pm This really isn't news. Every trade is contingent on a physical, even if the player was not previously injured.

Exactly, but why post something like that when that is generally the case with all trades? Doesn't it seem like they might be the least bit worried about this deal falling through and they wanted to have their bases covered so they don't come away with egg on their face? Title: Re: Jumping the gun? Post by: Brian Fein on March 14, 2006, 10:25:49 pm Typically, the physical is just a formality. This time, it seems they're being serious since they didn't get to poke and prod him before pulling the trigger.
