Title: Bradshaw Ripping Culpepper
Post by: NextSeason on March 16, 2006, 05:40:16 pm
What a jerk off... He didn't even show up for his team's superbowl.

Terry Bradshaw rips Culpepper

Terry Bradshaw, one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history, doesn't think Dolphins fans should get too excited about the acquisition of Daunte Culpepper.

"I am not sold on him being a top quarterback," Bradshaw told South Florida radio station 790 The Ticket Thursday morning. "I'm just not. I never was really. I'm just not sold on him being a top player at all. We'll just have to see."

Bradshaw, a FOX Sports NFL studio analyst, also expressed serious doubt that he'll be ready to start the season opener as Culpepper has stated.

"I don't know when he's even going to be healthy," said Bradshaw, who led the Pittsburgh Steelers to four Super Bowl championships. "He says he's going to be healthy. He had a pretty serious knee injury. I don't see him being ready in four months. Every athlete says they're ahead of schedule. What's ahead of schedule? He's better off taking the full year and let it heal up totally than to push it.

"Right now, you get caught in the moment. I don't see him being ready by the start of the season. If he is, good for him. But I just don't see it."

Bradshaw, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1989, believes former teammate Randy Moss deserves much of the credit for his success in Minnesota.

"Here's what you get with Daunte . . . His best years were with Randy Moss," said Bradshaw. "In the past, he's had Randy just air it out. He had a horrible year last year (without Moss), forcing balls into coverage. When he felt the pressure was on his shoulders, he didn't play well."

Bradshaw also questioned Culpepper's leadership abilities, citing the infamous boat-party scandal that Culpepper and three teammates were involved in that took place on Minnesota's Lake Minnetonka in October. The former Central Florida star was charged with three misdemeanors of indecent behavior and lewdness. He recently entered an innocent plea and claimed racial discrimination.

"Plus we have the leadership problems now being on the boat," said Bradshaw. "Quarterbacking entails maturity level, teamwork, keeping teammates together and having the respect of them. There's a lot of mending to do here. I'm not saying he can't and that it won't happen. Change of venue is very good for him."

I have known for some time that Bradshaw is a bumbling idiot.

He runs his mouth with no factual basis.  All his statements are pure opinion.

Tool ::)

Bradshaw can, like most "analysts", sound like a "bumbling idiot" once in a while, but this isn't one of them as far as I'm concerned.

He qualifies all his statements there, saying they are only his opinions (with the exception of the claim that Daunte played poorly in 2005, which I don't think anyone would dispute).

It also just so happens that he is echoing my thoughts on Culpepper exactly... I hope I'm wrong, I really do, but I've never thought he was among the elite quarterbacks in the league.

Bradshaw is saying what a lot of people are saying...which is pretty much what I expect from the bald inbred former Steeler. I worry about that knee as well. At the risk of repeating what I've said in other posts, the key isn't Randy Moss. The 'Phins aren't a team hurting at receiver. Chambers, Booker, Welker and Ronnie will give Daunte plenty of excellent targets. Daunte sucked when Minnesota's O-line went to hell in a handbasket...and that isn't a problem I see Miami having right now. Quite the opposite, in my opinion. If Culpepper's knee recovers fully (or even close enough to fully that he's out there under center), I think he'll be fine in Miami's offense.

But will that knee be "fine" by the season opener?

I'd prefer to see his knee get to that point in time for Daunte to work a couple of preseason games to get into more of a rhythm with his receivers, but the opener is the real deadline.

And McMike of course.

And McMike of course.

But of course!  Bottom line is that Daunte has many good receiving options with his new team.

...this coming from Mr. Lob it up to Lynn Swann and win 4 Super Bowls.

(This doesn't mean I don't agree with him :)

Bingo!!!  You hit it right on the head!!  Not only was Minnesota's O-line garbage, but with Michael Bennett spending more time in the traning room than on the field, and Onterrio Smith sitting out a year because of the "Whizzinator" incident, Daunte had no one to hand the ball off to either.

If Randy Moss was the only reason for Daunte Culpepper's success,  shouldn't have Kerry Collins gone to the Pro Bowl this year? He had Moss on the team.

Bradshaw had Swann and Stalworth on the team and one of the best supporting casts in football history. Who is he to talk? He should stick to banging Kathy Bates!  ;)

Daunte has a better offense in Miami than he ever did at Minnesota. Chambers is a Pro Bowler, Booker is a very good #2 who can make the big play(Daunte's favorite), McMichael is one of the best TE's and Brown is a great back. If Ricky is cleared of all charges, even better.

Remember, in 2004 Daunte had one of the greatest seasons EVER at QB, it was just overshadowed by Manning. I have my concerns about Daunte, but let's not pretend that Randy Moss caught 188 passes for 3,000 yards every year and the other options were just as good.

Moss was injured most of this past season, and relatively ineffective when he got back on the field.

His numbers in 05 were comparable to 04,  which just happened to be a near MVP season form Culpepper.

Not as much in this thread but I do see it often ... when someone says something people disagree with most people attack that person's character. I find that humerous.  I just wanted to say I like Terry Bradshaw but I do not agree with his assessment of Daunte Culpepper and I have not agreed to other things he has said.  Fortunately I can disagree with people and not hate them or I wouldn't be posting in here. I can't think of one person in here who I'd say I always agree with but I can think of many who I have found to be entertaining and likeable. Even fans of other teams!

True.  There is one guy who I disagree with and think is a jackass - Joe Theisman.

Before I bash some celebrity I hate (especially athletes), I try to keep in mind the probability that they have done more for charities that I ever will in my lifetime.

It's all relative.  I don't like Theismann either, but I don't think he's a bad person or anything.

That's why he only caught for 767 yards.  Culpepper, however, passed for close to 4000 yards.  So that's why I think it's bullshit when people say Culpepper is nothing without Moss to throw to.

How anyone can like Terry Bradshaw is beyond me.  You are a poopy CF  ;D Bradshaw is a bitter old man who got lucky by being on a team surrounded by some of the greatest.  I can't stand his act on FOX.  It's same old same old every week.  They cut up with him and he tries to be funny.  It's horrible TV and I thank God every night that the Dolphins are in the AFC so I can enjoy the CBS pre-game show instead of having to watch Bradshaw and that pork faced Satan known as JJ!

I like the fact that he can get on a boat with strippers & live it up. It shows the brotha is human & can party. I don't want some squeaky clean, boring manning clone. He is one of the boys & that leads to good team chemistry.

What can I say? It's the redneck in me that relates to the dumb country boy act he has going on.  On another note ... he does seem to be getting more bitter as he gets older!

How can you not like a pre-game show that features Marino???

Regardless, I actually don't watch too much pre-game, but when I do watch them I find FOX unbearable and have to change it within seconds of hearing JJ and Bradshaw cackle.
