Title: Lavar Arrington?
Post by: mcduff81 on March 21, 2006, 11:55:30 am
Anybody have an update regarding Mr. Arrington? He would be an excellent addition, and just think of our linebacking corps with him?

I doubt we sign him, but since we lost out on Peterson, I would love him as a Dolphin..

I think that Lavar is trying to get the big contract, but teams don't think he's worth it.  As free agency moves forward, these mercenary type players' value drops and they have to reconsider their worth, and try to go for the best fit for them at that point.  If the Dolphins make a move for Lavar, I hope it's down the line, where they can get him at a good price, with possile incentives.

I just know I'd love to see him land here.  I keep hearing he wants to go to the Giants, and that the Giants want him (maybe Jtex can shed some light here?).  But yeah...imagine rushing Arrington, Taylor, and Carter at, um, Tom Brady...scary...

yeah he wants to play for the G-Men so he can get back at the redskins and still play in his division.  also, the giants LB pierce played with LaVar in DC

Plus Ernie Accorsi, the GM of the Giants, is a Penn State guy, and he has an affection for Penn State guys.

Is it just me or is there a little too much hype surrounding this guy?

but since we lost out on Peterson

What are you talking about?  Last I saw Seattle is focusing in on him, but I haven't seen that he has signed anywhere.

I agree. I think its just the fact that he's a "big name" at a position that we could use help at.

IMO, there's no way Miami is going to sign this guy because his desire to get Julian Peterson money is not going to work with someone as smart as Saban.

Plus, with the contract that Peterson signed with Seattle, it's just gonna drive up Arrington's asking price.

I have a hard time believeing we still have a shot at Arrington, but From SI.com Daily Truth or rumors section....
The Giants haven't been eliminated from the LaVar Arrington chase yet, but the race is starting to get a little crowded. The ex-Redskins linebacker is planning to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend and also will make his second visit to Miami.-- New York Daily News

I've not heard of a guy making a second visit, unless there is really good shot of him signing....

I'm tryng not to read too much into this...

Who knows.... he might see Saban and the Dolphins as a winner and take less money to play for them.

i have heard that it's only the giants and us left for his services, something i read saying he wants 6 million but neither us nor the giants want to give him that, any truth to that

Thatt was the last I heard. I heard he was going to sign 'soon', and that was last weekend.  All is real quiet on this issue since the owner's meetings started.

I'm guessing he's gonna have to come down on his demands because apparently no one is gonna pay him the money he wants.  Considering he spent a lot of time on the bench because he didn't get along with Joe Gibbs, I wouldn't guarantee him that money either.  I wouldn't mind paying it..... in incentives and performance bonuses.  He'd have to earn it if he wanted to play for my team.
