Title: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: jtex316 on March 24, 2006, 11:39:41 am http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-panthers-johnson&prov=ap&type=lgns
Would like to hear Crazy_Scar_Faces on this, our resident Panthers fan. Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on March 24, 2006, 11:43:33 am Talk about a hell of a 1-2 punch with Steve Smith and Keyshawn. Carolina's passing game, particularly the deep ball, is gonna be a force to be reckoned with next season.
Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: Denver_Bronco on March 24, 2006, 11:56:48 am I would expect to see Keyshawn out of the slot i assume most of the time. There is no way he is the #2 guy if Colbert is healthy. He is still a pretty good hands guy though. Anyone think this contract is alittle too big ?

Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: bsfins on March 24, 2006, 11:59:43 am I thought Gardner got cut and went to the packers...Yep he just re-signed with the pack....
Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: crazy_scar_man on March 24, 2006, 02:52:23 pm This move has been a given for days. The Panthers rarely enter free agent talks unless they enter to win.
Keyshawn turned down 3 million a year (I can't remember from who), so the team knew about how much they would have to pay when they entered talks. This move makes perfect sense. If you compare the Panthers super bowl run three years ago and their NFC championship loss last season, the main difference is Muhsin Muhammed. The Seahawks figured that out, even though Chicago didn't. Keyshawn got a big pay day for his age, but he hit the free agency market at the right time. Carolina has a ton of contracts up after next season. They won't be able to keep that team together after that. We've all seen how the Patriots have been picked apart. Carolina didn't have the luxury to draft a receiver and there were very few receiver options this off season. Draft is in a month...technically, Carolina still has that luxury available. ;) Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: Frimp on March 24, 2006, 06:28:45 pm Will Keyshawn be able to split the passes with Steve Smith?
Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on March 24, 2006, 07:27:09 pm Will Keyshawn be able to split the passes with Steve Smith? Hell yeah!!! With DeShaun Foster as fragile as an eggshell, I can definitely see them throwing the ball 40 times a game. Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: crazy_scar_man on March 25, 2006, 04:20:38 pm Draft is in a month...technically, Carolina still has that luxury available. ;) I meant they didn't have the luxury to draft a rookie receiver. They need a veteran able to produce this year. Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: Brian Fein on March 27, 2006, 07:07:44 pm Does anyone think Keyshawn will try to convince DeShaun Foster to change his first name?
Title: Re: Keyshawn Johnson Goes to Carolina Post by: crazy_scar_man on March 27, 2006, 09:06:27 pm Does anyone think Keyshawn will try to convince DeShaun Foster to change his first name? He may... but it will be a moot point when one of DeShaun's body parts spontanously explodes in week 3 after a 'break out' game and he's gone for the year (third in a row). But his potential is unmistakable! |
