Title: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on March 27, 2006, 07:44:00 pm Please pin this.
Ms Frimp and I have decided to go to Detroit for Thanksgiving for the Phins/Lions game. We have plenty of time to plan, but tickets will be going on sale before too long, and it would be best to get the tickets together so that we can all be in the same section. Tailgate after the game...Wings, and turkey! :) Should be a blast! Who's on board? Title: Re: Thanksgiving Road Trip Post by: Brian Fein on March 27, 2006, 09:10:06 pm Is this an "official TDMMC Event?"
Title: Re: Thanksgiving Road Trip Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on March 27, 2006, 10:17:39 pm Is this an "official TDMMC Event?" That would be up to you and Dave. I'm sure the guys in the Northeast (Philly, Tony) and the Midwest (Lil B) won't have much trouble. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: bsfins on March 27, 2006, 10:38:27 pm I'm out...Detroit,Late November...just doesn't sound like my ball of fun....I'm concentrating on a Home Game in Florida....It's a 10-12 hour drive to Chicago, add 4+ to Detroit.
Title: Re: Thanksgiving Road Trip Post by: Philly Fin Fan on March 27, 2006, 10:38:50 pm That would be up to you and Dave. I'm sure the guys in the Northeast (Philly, Tony) and the Midwest (Lil B) won't have much trouble. Nope. Can't do it. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Brian Fein on March 27, 2006, 11:00:18 pm I'm out...Detroit,Late November...just doesn't sound like my ball of fun....I'm concentrating on a Home Game in Florida....It's a 10-12 hour drive to Chicago, add 4+ to Detroit. Should we start taking up the "send LilB to florida for a game" charity fund?Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on March 27, 2006, 11:34:41 pm No way the family let's me loose for that game :D. But, it sure sounds fun for those of you who can make it.
I am definitely putting together something for a home game this year (probably Vikings) if anyone is interested. Unless the date is a problem (Christmas Eve for example), I am going to do an event for the Texans game that will be large and in charge. If any of you are interested, just let me know. The Texans game deal will be out of control if all goes well. We are talking over 150 dolfans sitting together on the Dolphins sideline! I sent Frimp some info on the Lions ticket option for groups. You will probably have to go to Ticketmaster and try to buy as many as you can together. I'm not sure if they have a max or not for Lions games? Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on March 27, 2006, 11:43:35 pm I was planning on getting tickets on a credit card..kind of like a conference call type of thing. I'm sure we could do that through Ticketmaster...Right?
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Brian Fein on March 28, 2006, 12:12:27 am Doug, the Vikings game sounds good. I think Dolfan-UK is coming across the pond for that game.
Lil B - that'd be the game to target if you can! ;) Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: bsfins on March 28, 2006, 12:19:49 am I'm trying to plan it,so I can meet up with as many people as possible...I'm hoping a trip AZ,Philly,CF,UK_Dolfan,and Dolfan UK...I'm also hoping for like a week in Miami...I've never been to Florida,so I don't want to just fly in for the game and Fly home the next day....
Should we start taking up the "send LilB to florida for a game" charity fund? nope, ;D but thank you...(I'm hoping to use a piece of my Grandpas inheritance to pay for the trip.) Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on March 28, 2006, 08:39:08 am Frimp and I plan to do the Wing Ding again at the Buffalo game... and if so, we'll bring the owner of L-Woods pub in Hilton Head (He's a big Bills fan).
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Dave Gray on March 28, 2006, 10:38:53 am I can't make it to the Detroit game this year, unfortunately. I am going to the Houston game, though. I also have the Miami Dolphins cornhole goals for any home tailgating.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Phishfan on March 28, 2006, 11:08:52 am Should we start taking up the "send LilB to florida for a game" charity fund? We should at least make it a big event. I know several people have wanted to get B to a game. I am goiong to be out for Thanksgiving as well. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on March 28, 2006, 11:25:08 am Frimp, the amount of tickets will probably have a max. But, you could buy a set of say 8 (if that's the max) and then turn around and buy another set and the odds are good they will be near each other. Make sure you have a deposit from people before you charge a bunch of tix. Some people seem to disappear when it's time to actually pay and you could get stuck with tix.
Vikings with some UK guys would be nice. The Culpepper drama with the media would be huge. I'd love to see him light them up like Marino did the Pats when he came back from the achilles. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: DearbornDolfan on April 04, 2006, 03:42:39 am Was dropping in and noticed this, so I thought I'd give you guys a heads up. For those that have never been to Detroit before, Ford Field is litteral right next door to Comerica Park, where the Tigers play their home games. It's also across the street from the Fox Theatre. The closest hotels I know of are in Dearborn, my home town. If you practice a little due dilligence, I'm sure you can find out where the Fins players are staying, but I would almost be willing to bet it'll be either the Dearborn Hilton or Dearborn Hyatt.
Phone contact info for Lions ticket office: (313)262-2003 E-mail contact info for Lions ticket office: lionstix@detroitlions.com They don't start selling individual ticket until the league releases the full schedule, so the wait won't be terrible. The average ticket price is $35-45, but will probably be close to a hundred if you decide you want to buy first row fifty yard line seat. The cheapest that I've heard of are the endzone tickets, which came in at around $20 last season, although that might have climbed slightly. If you go for the endzone tickets, I'd recommend a good pair of binoculars so you can clearly see the player when they're on the other side of the field. I'll be at the game myself, so there's a possibility we might run into each other. If you arrive early, contact me if you want some recommendations for things to do or need directions on how to get around; although your hotel would probably be able to do a better job than I about giving driving directions. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on April 04, 2006, 07:40:36 am Thanks for that info Dearborn. I'm sure it will be very useful.Â
BTW, welcome to the boards. When you have a moment, please go to the Off Topic forum and tell us more about yourself in the Roll Call 2006 thread. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 04, 2006, 07:54:58 am That's great. We'll arrange contact info and such when the tickets go on sale. We'll likely get there a day or two before to take in Detroit.
Thanks for the info, and welcome to the boards! Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 08, 2006, 10:33:48 pm Here's the first pair I've seen on ebay. Very pricey, but i don't know what you're looking to spend so here goes:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Miami-Dolphins-vs-Detroit-Lions-Tickets-Lowers-Row-9_W0QQitemZ6620680184QQcategoryZ16122QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The Lions do offer a group deal that includes a tailgate party and a lower endzone ticket, but I don't recall how many you have to buy to get the deal. I'll try to find it. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: DearbornDolfan on April 10, 2006, 03:29:05 pm Individual tickets don't even go on sale until August. Don't pay that much when you don't have to.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 16, 2006, 10:52:55 pm Somebody bought those tix. Individual tix for sale will not be as good as the ones on ebay right now, but that's OK if you don't mind sitting in the upper level. Some people do, some don't.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on April 17, 2006, 12:23:39 am Somebody bought those tix. Individual tix for sale will not be as good as the ones on ebay right now, but that's OK if you don't mind sitting in the upper level. Some people do, some don't. I certainly don't mind. Matter of fact, the upper level corners are some of the best views. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: DearbornDolfan on April 17, 2006, 06:47:55 pm Most of the tickets are going to be individual tickets. The Lions aren't good enough and the tickets are too expensive for a lot of people to be season ticket holders.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 17, 2006, 07:29:49 pm I spoke to some Lions fans from a suburb of Detroit during the Heritage Golf Classic over the weekend. They told me that Ford Field is a much nicer place to see a game than the Silverdome, and there arent really any bad seats in the house.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on April 17, 2006, 10:19:01 pm Most of the tickets are going to be individual tickets. The Lions aren't good enough and the tickets are too expensive for a lot of people to be season ticket holders. That is true. I'm not knocking Detroit in any way, but it is a working-class city. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: DearbornDolfan on April 18, 2006, 03:10:55 pm The city itself is, but the burbs are fairly rich. However, that's neither here nor there, because season tickets are still damned expensive even for someone like myself that is from those same burbs. Anyway, I'll call the ticket office again and get an exact date for when the Turkey Day tickets go on sale.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 18, 2006, 03:18:29 pm That would be great.

Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 19, 2006, 05:08:35 pm I bet Detroit has more season ticket holders than Miami. Â The team may suck, but that town loves football.
I'm not sure of that market, but I would guess individual tickets wouldn't be a problem as long as you got them the day they went on sale. Â I'd still comb ebay for a deal. Â Season ticket holders pay less than indivduals and they don't pay the sky high ticketmaster fees. Â So, if they are just looking to break even, or make a little, they may have something you could grab. Â GO PHINS!!! Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 19, 2006, 05:13:07 pm Just checked stubhub for the heck of it and they have upper corners and endzones for $85-$92 each. They had one set of 6 in a corner and then another set of 5 in the row behind the 6 set. I bet they piggyback. Just an FYI. I'm not sure what face value is on those. Probably $39-$45. Looking at their stadium diagram, it appears they only have 2 upper corners.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: DearbornDolfan on April 20, 2006, 02:38:21 am Average ticket price is 35-45 USD, I believe. I think the seats behind the endzones can be had for as low as 25 USD. I'd wait, if I were you. Also, I would bet against you. There are more Dolphins fans here than there are Lions fans; never mind teams like New England, Cinci, and Indi.
Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 20, 2006, 02:41:25 pm Its' tough to know because Detroit's stadium has less seats, but they do have a waiting list and all lowers are sold.
http://www.detroitlions.com/section_display.cfm?section_id=34&top=1&level=3 Miami does not have a waiting list. Never has and probably never will. They have a "priority list" as they call it, but that's just a marketing scam. Regardless, I'm not going so you guys do what you want. I was just presenting options. If I was going, I would be a little worried about waiting on ticketmaster. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 21, 2006, 04:12:24 am I'm not ruling out Ebay, but we are going to 5 games this year, and it would be better for us to buy them all at once.
Miami at Carolina (preseason) Minnesota at Miami Miami at Detroit New Orleans at Atlanta Dallas at Atlanta (Ms Frimp is a Falcons fan.) Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 23, 2006, 11:44:12 am Frimp, I may be interested in joining you in ATL for one of those games IF and only IF it doesn't interfere with a Dolphins game and you don't mind. I don't miss Dolphins games (live or on TV) ;D.
I actually went to see the Saints in Atlanta when Ricky was there because I had this feeling he would be a Dolphin one day. I'm serious. OK, maybe the feeling was that I was hoping :D. The rivalry between those two teams is great. The stadium was packed with Saints fans. Katrina may have changed that situation a good bit. Tickets are tough to get for that game. I imagine Dallas won't be easy either. The Falcons sold out all games last year in about 9 minutes once they went on sale individually. Michael Vick brings in the fans for sure in the ATL. You better be fast on those tix. I am definitely putting together a big event for the Vikings game. Hotel rates are up in November down in S FL, but I finally found a workable place and it's on Fort Lauderdale Beach. It's not a cheap package, but it's a heck of a value. Great seats, 2 nights hotel on the beach, transfers, parties with former players and one current player (TBD), tailgate party, and more. I can work with people though if they have a place to stay already, or tickets, etc. I'll post the info once I finalize it. I'm trying to find some ways to reduce the cost right now, but it's tight. Nothing is real cheap in South Florida :o. If anyone is interested, I already have an event set up for the Bills game. It doesn't feature all the same things as the Vikes game will, but it's still nice. $250 less per couple than the company that does these type of things for every game! http://www.phinatics.com/phintasticbb06.htm . You locals let me know if you're interested in just the party. I usually don't separate that out solo, but on this one I really just wanted to get a group together so we could have a good party. If I get enough people, I may get a current player instead of just alums. GO PHINS!!! Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 24, 2006, 01:02:11 am None of those games interfere with a Phins game. There is no Phins game on the the day of the Saints game, and the Cowboy's game is a Saturday. :)
Thats why I planned it that way. ;D Falcons tickets arent very hard to get at all. We went to the Panthers/Falcons game last season, the last game of the season, and we bought tickets the Wednesday before the game online from the Falcons website. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 28, 2006, 12:41:19 am ^^^
Sure, (Doug) if you want to come up for one, that would be great. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: The_Phinatic on April 28, 2006, 01:35:03 pm I thought Vivk was selling that place out? Maybe some tix opened up because it was the last game of the season and they were eliminated already? I tried to get some tix to the rivalry games like the Saints and Bucs, so maybe just those games sell out fast?
I guess we will know soon enough. Tix should be on sale around June I think. Title: Re: TDMMC Road Trip: Dolphins at Lions, Thanksgiving Day Post by: Frimp on April 28, 2006, 08:17:07 pm We also saw them play the Vikings on week 4 or 5, and had no problem getting tickets either.
