Title: 2006 Draft
Post by: VidKid on April 29, 2006, 12:06:16 pm
Here we go. I think the opening is a little cheesy, but will see what happens next.

BOOO... i wanted Reggie to go to NY.   Well, the Saints have McAllister and Bush. Nice tandem.

The Jets fans look like they just saw a ghost.  ;D

Jets should go Leinart. Pennington isn't good enough, especially with the shoulder surgery.

I think they go with Ferguson.

Linehart looks PISSED.  ;D

USC is getting dicked around today. Green Bay doesnt need qb so leinart is gonna drop some more.

The 49ers don't need a qb either. Will the Raiders grab Leinart?

Pack on the clock at #5, which means SF is going to get either Vernon Davis (please, please, please) or AJ Hawk (nice consolation prize)

God, I love the draft ! ! !

YES!!  Hawk is a Packer... Vernon Davis, COME ON DOWN!

I'm almost near tears here...I haven't been this happy with a 49ers draft pick in a long time.

Hey...Vernon Davis is getting teary too...I love this kid!  ;D

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy... who's gonna be there at #22. Nolan, I love ya for the Vernon Davis pick...now let's get a monster CB or LB at 22 and 49ers fans can start feeling good about this rebuilding process.

Will Leinart go to the Raiders?

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: VidKid on April 29, 2006, 01:17:05 pm
Nice pick stroke. The way the draft has gone, i would rather go to Detroit with all those wide receivers if i was Leinart. I think Raiders need some defense.

Leinart's probably thinking the same thing...who wouldn't want to have Williams, Williams and Collarbone...er...Rogers to throw to.

Raiders grab Huff...he is going to be such a freakin' monster.

I doubt Buffalo will pick a QB.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: VidKid on April 29, 2006, 01:40:28 pm
Arizona with those wide rec and Edge. This could also be a good spot for him.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: Sunstroke on April 29, 2006, 01:45:26 pm
Matt Leinart, Edgerrin James, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald...dannnnggggg!

If Denny can shore up that O-line and keep his QB's on their feet, Arizona could be seriously explosive on offense. Anquan and Larry have to be dancing a fukkin' jig right now, knowing their QB future is in good hands.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: Frimp on April 29, 2006, 01:46:34 pm
True. What was Leinart's reaction? Did he look pissed or happy?

(I got up to take a shower.)

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: Sunstroke on April 29, 2006, 01:48:42 pm
I was editing my post above...Frimp was quick there.

Leinart didn't look overly happy, but I think that was more about the stress a top prospect goes through when he slides down the draft order on national television than it was about playing for AZ.

TRADE!

Cutler to the Donkos

TRADE!

Cutler to the Donkos
I can't fucking believe that.  When you are a final 4 team, why trade up to invest for the future?  I would have filled a need an gone for the SB this year.

True...And, Denver could wind up with a QB contraversey if Plummer gets hppy with his middle finger again.  ;D ;D

I don't understand this trade between the Ravens and Browns. Were the Browns possibly looking at Ngata? It cost the Ravens a sixth rounder. Seems pretty stupid to me. Stupid for the Ravens. If I'm the Brown's staff, I'm saying HELL YEAH to that deal.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: VidKid on April 29, 2006, 02:15:28 pm
So the Ravens take Ngata, but during the interview, did anyone else notice that chick in the background throwing up some sort of Hawaiian gang signs or something. Was it sign language? She looked stupid. Tell me someone else saw it.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: Frimp on April 29, 2006, 02:28:46 pm
I saw it.  ;D

Am I the only one who thinks that trade was very stupid on Baltimore's part?

Fins are 2 picks aways and Winston Justice is still there......please, pretty please, lets get him.

Maybe, but I still want some DB help.

I am comfortable with this pick. Thank you, Master Saban!

I wonder how much they paid for the rights to use the Harry Potter sound for each draft pick.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: Sunstroke on April 29, 2006, 03:43:35 pm
I don't know if Allen would have been my pick if the pick were mine...in fact, I can pretty much guarantee ya that I'd have taken Justice. Winston J is still on the board and my Niners are coming up quick...if we get Vernon Davis AND Winston Justice, I really will be happy. We'll have to really rock the 3-5th rd picks for DB and LB prospects, but I would like what Davis adn Justice could do for our offensive future.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft

Giants pick in 2. We need WR, RB, DB.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft

Manny Lawson at #22...oh hell yeah. I almost came back to edit my last post to say that I'd be happy with either Justice or Lawson. Looks like Nolan decided to get that marquee defensive player instead of an O-line anchor. As I was just saying about Lawson in another thread 2 days ago...

I like Manny Lawson quite a bit...great Senior Bowl, and he's probably in the small group of players whose stock went up after I watched all the combine film and read reports on his private workouts. Ridiculous athletic skills, and an excellent head for the game. I heard one personnel guy make a comment after interviewing Lawson that basically said (loose quote) "He'll make a great NFL pass rusher...and probably a good defensive coach some day."

I don't think he'll go to Miami at #16 though. I think (read: hope) he drops to #22 and becomes SF's second 1st round pick. That is where McShay has him mocked right now as well.

Vernon Davis and Manny Lawson should become excellent 49ers. I would like to fly out to SF and give Coach Nolan a great big hug...I think he nailed both picks with future pro bowlers.

Not bad. A 3rd and 4th to move 7 spots. With this being the only wr so far, i think that was a pretty good deal.

Yeah, that was really a good move for the G-men...they have needs that those 3rd and 4th round picks will fill, and enough excellent players (Justice, Chad Jackson, Jimmy Williams) are sliding that they'll still get good value at #32.

He is why kids do not go back to school.  Lost a ton of upfront cash by going back to SC.

WTF!!!    Why didn't we take some speed at WR???

Because Miami would not have been getting value.  Jackson fell out of Rd. 1 so why would they pick a guy everyone else thinks is not worth a No. 1 for in the middle of the Rd.

Holmes fell past the Pats who need Wr.  Plus Philly passed on him & we all know they need a Wr.

Exactly...Leinart should have come out last year to the 49ers for the money we gave Alex Smith and then we would have ALL been happy!

(Leinart to Davis...The ultimate west coast short-mid range QB, and the mutant freak receiving TE monster. Oh, what might have been)

WTF!!! Why didn't we take some speed at WR???

I was very surprised that Chad Jackson didn't go there...do they not see those freakish hands and nice size-speed combination? He'd have made Plaxico the G-Men's "#2 WR" in short order.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft
Post by: VidKid on April 29, 2006, 05:19:32 pm
Even if Plaxico stayed #1, we need some speed coming from the slot. Toomer on one side, Plaxico on the other. We don't have a speedy, quick guy. We have decent backups on the line and our starters are awesome with Osi and Strahan.

Probably similar to the Vikings/Dolphins trade 2 years ago for Vernon Carey.  The Vikings told the Fins that the Pats were looking to trade with them.

Man, the Seminoles have four first rounders in the TOP TWENTY!!!  The Hurricoones had one first rounder (and a lucky one at that!!!).  The Gay-tors didn't have shit!!!

I'm a little angry at the Bucs reaching for a guard. They could have traded down a few spots with somone who wanted a receiver.

7 teams pick before Miami as of right now.

Title: Re: 2006 Draft

I don't understand why the following are still on the board:

Gabe Watson DT
Ko Simpson S
AJ Nicholson LB

These guys were all projected as first day picks with Simpson going in the first round.  I'll tell ya, and this is a bold prediction on my part..... Nicholson is gonna be more of a playmaker in the NFL than Ernie Sims (his LB mate at FSU). I'd love to see Miami snatch him up in the 4th. He is versatile and can play both MLB and OLB. Zach Thomas is now 32 years old and starting to show signs of wear and tear after so many jarring hits. Now is a good time to begin grooming his replacement.

Isn't that Crowder?  I don't disagree with picking up another LB, though.

Easy to say why.  Watson has been lazy in the past, Simpson is smallish & Nicholson has huge off field issues.

I don't understand.  You want 2 replacements for Thomas?  Are you just increasing your odds?

No.  One of them can play the outside.  You can even switch them around in the course of a game to confuse defenses.

Not that it matters anymore.  Cincy snatched him up in the 5th round.

All This proves is that your coaching staff is atrocious, and F$U is nothing but a bunch of underachievers. You can have your first round picks, well just keep kicking your ass on the field. The gators will have 2 first round picks in next year's draft. DT- Marcus Thomas , and LB Brandon Siler.
