Can we please keep politics and the Bush family out of the NFL?

Thanks.

Can we please keep him out of politics? I think putting him in the NFL would not be a bad move.

I'll warn you ahead of time ...  this is a bad joke.

Seeing as how he has a drug addicted daughter he may cast a sympathetic vote towards Ricky playing!  ;)

I warned you!

How about they make the commissioner someone who has actually been a part of every day NFL business. Bush and Rice make no sense whatsoever. So what if he watches football every week? If that makes him a candidate, I'm going to send in my resume to the NFL.

I don't get it.  Why are they looking at government to run the NFL?  It seems like they should hire someone from within, with a little bit of experience with the league.  Also, (and I'd say this for any democrat, too) people already have a split opinion on Jeb, and the Bushes, period.  Why not bring in a guy who will be fairly judged on his merit as an NFL commissioner?  It's like when they put Rush Limbaugh on that pregame show.  Why even take that risk?

Thank you Dave.

I think I just saw a pig fly by my office window...

BJL is right - I bet every person on this board knows more about the NFL and football in general than Jeb.  I'm sending in my resume as well!

Brian would suck as NFL Commish.  He'd forget to tell teams how much money they'd have to spend, and rush to schedule games last minute.

Any time you want the job, step up whore.  Otherwise, shut your face.

Brian would have the death penalty for smoking a joint.

I think that Jeb Bush would be a great NFL commisioner.

However, I would rather see someone with NFL experience.

Just so everyone knows, he does have a bit of experience as he was part owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars when they were formed.

I think everything I'd want to say about this has already been said by Dave, Brian and a few others.

KEEP POLITICS OUT OF MY FOOTBALL

I think it should be, as BJL mentioned, someone who has an intimate knowledge of the day to day business of football. Not some government crone or hag who wants more camera time, but someone who would actually be qualified to do the job going in.

If I remember correctly, his brother George owned either the Rangers or Astros, but I'm pretty sure it was the Rangers. That doesn't mean I would take him as MLB commissioner.

If i remember correctly, it was the Rangers and they almost had to file bankruptcy. And as for Jeb's ownership in the Jags, that was an investment. He doesn't do anything. The guy has a bachelors in Latin American Studies and was a real estate salesman. Then he went on to do some civic stuff and volunteer work, which I think is great. But the guy, like George, can't run a business himself so how can he run the NFL. I will NEVER buy another football if his signature is on it.

Well, it's all a mute point, he rejected any offer. I find it insane that he would even be offered the position. What are they thinking?

I think everyone jumped on this a bit. I don't expect it was an official offer. It was a discussion. People have discussions about job positions all the time without having an official offer.

it really was a non-story, but people were discussing the potential of having him take the job.  If you read the article, its like someone ran by and asked him a random question and wronte an article about it.
