Off the Field: RB Lorenzo Booker

Dol-Fans know that running back Lorenzo Booker was a third round draft choice of the Dolphins in 2007 out of Florida State. But, did you know that his favorite television show is SportsCenter? Did you know that his favorite actor is Will Smith? You can learn more as MiamiDolphins.com takes you Off The Field With Lorenzo Booker.

THIS AND THAT

You’ve been compared to another former Florida State running back, Warrick Dunn, because you have similar running styles and body types, respectively. What are your thoughts on that comparison?

“That’s an honor right there. I hope I can continue to be mentioned in the same sentence as a guy like that. The history of the best backs ever who were never 220 or 230. Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton – all these guys were 210 or less, 5-10 and smaller. Warrick is even smaller than that still manages to get 10,000 yards in his career – that’s not something that everybody does. But again, just to be mentioned in the same sentence as that guy – if you meet him you understand why he’s so successful.”

What are some of your best memories from the four bowl games you played in as a Seminole?

“The best bowl game personally was my last one, it was at home and I had a lot of people there and had a great game. But I think in terms of just the bowl game itself, the one that’s the most fun is the Orange Bowl because the weather is great and Miami is just like California for me. There’s a lot of stuff to do. But the game itself just has a lot of hype around it and I’ve always had good memories at Dolphin Stadium – that’s a first-class stadium. So you can’t go wrong going to the Orange Bowl.”

What did you think of FSU's Music City Bowl match-up against Kentucky?

“I knew it was going to be a touch match-up. I’ve never been to Nashville myself so I was hoping they could still have a good time off the field. That’s usually the thing with bowl games – you want to go somewhere fun because there’s a lot more down time. That was actually the first time I was able to celebrate New Years because I was always playing in a bowl game right around that time.”

You recently had quite an addition to the family with your newborn child. How is that going for you so far?

“Excellent. I tell people all the time – growing up your parents always tell you, ‘you don’t even know what love is until you have a kid.’ You think about everybody you love - like your parents and your brothers and sisters and you’re like ‘how could I possibly love somebody any more than that?’ But when you have a little you running around – I’m telling you no matter what I’m going through during the day, when I go home and see him it just puts everything in perspective. I’ll go through anything just to make sure that guy smiles.”

You had a breakout game receiving against the Jets back in December. Was it satisfying to get an opportunity to show what you can do?

“There’s a lot more nerves when you haven’t gotten a chance to go out there and play at all. I just didn’t want to make any key mistakes, turnovers or mental errors and I didn’t do that. So now I can just build on the things that I didn’t do so well last year and just keep getting better.”

Quite an addition? As opposed to what?

You must not have any kids.

If I don't, I have a serious problem with my wife...

I'd say your FIRST kid would be QUITE an addition.  Your whole life changes when you have your first kid.

Unless you count cats and dogs and crap like that as "additions to your family", there's only one kind of addition: Having a child.
