It's called slanderous statements, and in this day and age, if this guy sues, he may very well get something.

There are some very serious difference between the two cases. 

There are specific laws regarding the dispensing of prescription drugs and what information needs to be recorded.  Those laws do not exist regarding the sale of sporting goods tickets. One of her COA was related to those laws.

In the drug case the defendants knew that she was she suffered from depression.  Without this element she would not have been able to make out a COA for emotion distress.  Plus for emotional distress you typically need repeated conduct. 

In order to defame (slander) someone you must make a false statement and communicate it to some other than the person defamed.  With the tickets their was no false statement nor was their a third party that saw it (until the plaintiff showed it someone) so defamation would fail on 2 points. 

The Lions do have a public relations problem and should give him something to reverse the PR issues, but suing would be an abuse.

Since when is fuck em a slanderous statement? It says nothing about him, other than the Lions do not care about their fans. If you insert screw instead of fuck, and the statement means the same thing with a little less shock over the use of the F bomb.
Why is everyone so happy to sue in this country? I guess everyone feels they should get a free pass in life because of someone else's mistake. No wonder the rest of the world think we are tools.

Laziness.  Everyone is looking for that winning lottery ticket.

Last year a buddy of mine was going through a four way intersection when he was broadsided by a guy that was running a red light.  The guy that ran a red light had a COP behind him that saw him run the red.  The insurance claim couldn't have been more slam dunk, all damages to be paid by the other car's driver.

Two months later my friend was hit with a law suit...from the guy that ran the red light.  Pain & suffering.

Accountability in this country, generally, has gone out the window.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

1.   defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.
2.   a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.
3.   Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
–verb (used with object)
4.   to utter slander against; defame.
–verb (used without object)
5.   to utter or circulate slander.

Telling someone to "f*ck off" is not slander.  Not even remotely close.
