In 2000, Jay Fiedler threw three interceptions in his only half of preseason football.

He got the job over Damon Huard anyway.

Josh McCown might not have that much rope. But as the only "veteran" of the three quarterbacks in camp, he has an inside track to start the opener. He might get that assignment even if he is mediocre in camp, if the organization decides that it is in the best interests of the development of Chad Henne (or even John Beck) to wait to throw either into the fire.

This team isn't going anywhere this season.

So every decision should be made from a long-term perspective.

That said, what would it take for you to get excited about McCown this training camp and preseason?

If Josh grew a third arm in the middle of his chest and Miami worked in some trick plays based off of McCown's mutation, I'd try to attend at least one preseason game.
