The Boston Redsox set a new major league record with their 456th regular season consecutive sell out.
Jon Lester pitched into the 8th inning beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0. The win brings the Redosx's within 1/2 game of the devision leading Ray.
I remember someone predicting at the beginning of the year that Boston would finish third in their devision behind Toronto. Looks like you are way off base, better luck next year.

Okay, first of all Boston's stadium isn't "that small."  It's right on par with over 90# of the other stadiums in the league.  Fenway fits just under 40,000 (39,928 to be exact) and draws over three million in total attendance each year. 

Cleveland previously held the record and the Jake holds just under 43,000 for SRO. 

That said - who gives a rat's ass?  I mean, seriously?  What a dumb thing to celebrate.

I don't care if stadiums are over flowing to the rim, I just want to see reasonable crowds at every game.  The Yankees sell out about half of their games every year and will still outdraw the entire league in overall attendance.  Of course that will change next year - the new Yankee Stadium holds 39,000 instead of 55,000.  But as long as there are 20,000 - 30,000 for each game I'm happy.  That shows a general health for the sport I love.

And, yet, only eight that outdraw Boston in overall attendance at the end of the year.  So what is your point?  What good is a stadium that seats 55,000 people if they never draw about 35,000?  Toronto holds, what?  53,000?  And average 29,000 per game.  Baltimore holds something like 49,000 and average 26,000 a game.  Your Rays home holds 36,000 and averages 21,000 a game.

The size of the stadium matters...why?
