It's funny...each of the past three Monday mornings have brought the same discussion by a certain someone to these boards; the discussion on the Denver Broncos being the class of the AFC.

When asked about the Broncos defense not being able to stop a fat man from the all you can eat buffet line the response would be...well, there would be no response.  I mean, heck.  Don't let the facts get in the way, right?

So yesterday the Broncos lost.  This is the NFL and every given Sunday, parity and yada yada yada.  I get all that.  But the team that beat them is nothing more than one of two of the NFL's JV teams in the Kansas City Chiefs.  They'll be lucky to win three this year.  Larry Johnson gouged Denver for 198 on the ground.  Stellar play by that "class of the AFC" defense, yes?

Damon Huard strapped himself to LJ's back and was very efficient going 21 for 28, 160 yards and a score.  KC obtained eight first downs through the air, of all things.  Denver managed to put...well...zero pressure on Huard and obtained one coverage sack.

Yep, one.

KC's defense looked like superstars against the vaunted Broncos offense, picking off Cutler twice, forcing a fumble on top of the two picks and forcing Marshall and Royal to each fumble once.

This is the Kansas City freakin' Chiefs.

Man...if Denver is the "class" of the AFC I think this is going to really be the NFC's year.

I made the comment when KC won that all it meant was that D_B would be relatively quiet this week.

Denver is still one of the top teams in the AFC though, imo... Fluke losses can happen to anyone.

They can.  Miami beating New England was a fluke as well.

I think my point is that Denver's defense is bad, bad, bad.  I would put them as a mid tier team, a playoff contender, but a team that won't win much of anything due to a sup par defense that has shown for four weeks that it stinks.

Good team?  Yes.  Would I take Cutler in Miami?  I'll drive him there myself.  Love that kid.  But the class of the AFC?  Hardly.

Yes flukes do happen, don't think Miami beating Pats was a fluke though. Dallas lost to Redskins not so much of a fluke upset yes and Denver lost to a poor team definitely a fluke. But I have to agree about Denver's bad defense, my grandmother could gash them for 100 yards of rushing and she is dead. I thought if Jay cutler and the offense played at the high level they were preforming at they could be heading to a superbowl. It appears to me Jay Cutler is going to have to come down from the level he was at because he is not a top notch Quarter Back, don't get me wrong, he is a good and efficient QB but definitely not top notch.

you have to have a good defense to go deep in the playoffs in this league. for all of the pats offensive woes, its the defense that is the real problem. man that bronco defense SUCKS balls...

Listen dude. I referenced their loss in about 4 different threads.

Also, they are still the class of the AFC regardless of what you think. Process of elimination tells me that. They will rebound this week and probably rip off 6 or 7 in a row, unitl they get bored again and have a stinker.

Jay Cutler is the son of God and Bradon Marshall is Moses.

I just think it burns you to see all of these guys Miami had, have success like Damon Huard and Brian Griese, thus the rant.

You have to get over the fact that Miami's front office, just isn't very bright.

Hold on time to call you out Denver. You are telling us that Denver lost this week because they got bored? Only 4 weeks into the season and are bored, what does that say about the coaching and team play in Denver. Did the 72 dolphins get bored? This is professional football and if Denver gets bored so easily maybe they should go to Canada and play. OK Patriot fans for now on you should say the Patriots lost the last supperbowl because they got bored, especially after winning 18 games in a row. You have also said Denver would not lose until week 4 of the 2009 season. Does this mean you over rated your own team? Does this mean you could not comprehend Denver's ability to concentrate on football, since they are too busy being bored. What does anybody on this board care about former players and how they did this week, we had a bye Denver, it didn't effect any of us. I am willing to bet MANY of us are pulling for Brian Griese, and didn't Denver have him first, so it must really burn you.

Denver's defense completely sucking has what to do with Miami's front office?

117 points against.  The only team worse would be St. Louis.

Denver's defense sucks - and boy did they show that off yesterday.  117 points in four freaking games.  Holy crap.  Good thing Denver's offense is decent...but giving up 29 points a game they'll be lucky to scratch out 9 wins.

I know their defense blows. They haven't had a pass rush since the turn of the century.

Ahh! There's nothing like walking through Downtown Denver looking at the dejection on the faces of Denver fans who actually said last week that they have a good chance of going undefeated!

The Broncos are pretenders. I like Shanny because he is a great coach but Denver has no running back that scares anybody and if you put pressure on Cutler, he is sure to throw a couple of picks.

The Defense? They were better off keeping John Lynch. And lets not even talk about Dre Blight whose interception totals have always been inflated from picking off third string quarterbacks in Detroit when other teams were in the lead and rest their starting quarterback. He can't cover and he can't tackle.

Denver is the 2008 version of the 2005 Cincinnatti Bengals. All offense...no defense.

Pffft!!!!  The class of the AFC?!  LOL!

By the hair on a frog's ass they could have been 1-3 right now.  They are NOT at the top of the AFC.  That is a .500 team.

Denver has no running back that scares anybody...

They do, but he isn't back on the field yet. IMO, Ryan Torain, when healthy, is a much more talented RB than either Selvin Young or Andre Hall. Once he gets back, I expect Denver's offense to get a little bit better than they are right now.
