Re: the fairness doctrine.

1. The although when asked more democrats then republicans support this doctrine it is hardly a high priority.  I doubt we would see any action.  As republican oppose it strongly and it has weak support among democrats I doubt the dems would waste resources trying to push it thru and focus on higher priorities such as Iraq, taxes, and health care.

2. It would apply to both traditionally liberal and traditional conservative media. More likely than Hannity going away would simply be you need to tune into MSNBC for Hannity and Fox for Oberman.  It might impact conservative media a bit more b/c most of the "liberal" outlets already have conservatives, Joe Scarbrow is not exactly a bleeding heart liberal.  On some talk radio stations you might lose one or two of the right wingers and add a couple of left wingers, that would not be the death of Rush.

Hannity won't go away in an Obama presidency.  Anytime Obama mention's Hannity, Hannity goes wild and dedicates a whole segment of H&C to discuss how Obama "attacked" him.

Who decides what is liberal and what is conservative.

Will CNN hire Alan Combs away from Fox and call him their token conservative?  After all, he was on Fox.

If this comes to pass I won't be surprised to see left wingers hired to "balance" ultra left-wingers.

Glenn Beck just signed a deal. He's leaving CNN for Fox. I kind of liked him on CNN. Oh well, now, I won't have any reason whatsoever to watch CNN.
