Denver - trying to be serious here...

Was this move something that the fans have been asking for?  What's the general sentiment among the Broncos' fan-base?  I mean, we all wanted Wannstedt gone, was is the same feeling toward Shanahan?  I mean he's been there forever, and I personally didn't think he was on the hot seat.  Is this move a huge surprise to Broncos' fans?
I can't tell you for sure because I live in NY, but from what I've seen written and online the fans were about 60/40 on firing him.  I know Bowlen and Shanny were pretty much butt-buddies so for Bowlen to ax him it would have to come from the fan reaction to appease them.  There was never any ultimatium issued by Bowlen, to begin or end the year, or anytime in between.

Pittsburgh and Miami have done horrible with their new coaches. I see your point..... Roll Eyes

That's because both Teams inherited a Nucleus of decent players on both sides of the ball. Can't say that For the Donkos. Your Defense is close to the worst in the NFL and there is only so much you can do in 1 draft season.

I heard its because Bowlen wanted to change it up and pitch for a change and Shanny didn't like the ball/leather strap in the mouth thingy(he didn't leave any room after the last set of fake teeth) so He was sent packing...........literally.    Cheesy

Surely you aren't talking about the nucleus of offensive players. Cutler, Marshall, Eddie Royal and Ryan Torain are the best under-25 quartet in the ENTIRE NFL. Defensively all they need is help on the interior of the D-Line. Jarvis Moss and Elvis Dumerville are legit and having Chump Bailey and Dre Bly on the corners is way above average for a secondary when you have an actual pass rush.

Back away from the crack pipe slowly........

Yeah.........we had the Best Running game with Ricky Williams once (almost 2000 Yds) and we didn't make the Playoffs either. We also had one of the most prolific Passers of all time in #13 and that didn't get us squat either. Like my name implies..........you need DEFENSE. A Great Defense will beat a Great offense every day of the week bro.  Your Team is a shambles.  You can't win anything if you score 40 points and give up 41.  Champ Baily can't do it all just like JT couldn't do it all for us.  If you get a decent new Head coach (BIG if) he will Trade Baily for draft picks and start a new. You are 3 years out from anything decent on defense. Lets see what your offense looks like then when they all start screaming for a new contract.  Your done for the next few years. Deal with it or START smoking the pipe bro.  Cheesy

His track record in the last 10 years isn't what you would call "highly successful", but you're smoking crack if you believe Shannahan is not a competent, professional football coach. You don't get "lucky" and win back to back super bowls (and terell davis sucks - HE was the one who was lucky behind a great O-Line and TE, not the other way around).

Shanahan can coach anywhere he wants to. Dallas should consider firing Phillips and acquiring Shanny - he would know what to do with those offensive weapons on that squad.

Yea, he shouldn't have any problem finding a new job.  How many chances should a guy get, though?  The next will be his third team.  Norv Turner should be relegated to O-coordinator for life and Bum should get another shot before Wade.

Shanny didn't get fired because the offense was bad--D is what got him sacked.

Bring back Bum! I miss the hat.

Seriously, I think Shanny would be a great move for the Cowboys. It would also be a great move for them to fire their ass clown coach and hire my sister to run the team. Shanny could get something done there.

He's too good a coach not to land somewhere, but he won't likely land with the Jets or Buffalo because they don't want to pay for a head coach.   He may land in Cleveland I heard, also it's entirely possible that he'll go back to being an offensive coordinator somewhere.

One thing for sure.... at least Bowlen's got the guts to make such a move.  The same can't be said for  Uncle Wayne at the end of the 2002 season.

That I will concur with.
