Has there been a successful head coach to come from under belichik.  Mangini sucks, Weis sucks.  Who else was there?

And we all know what happened with Prick $aban.

I know what happened. He became an extremely successful college football coach. One with an obvious and extreme napoleon complex, but he has been successful...

Who gives a rat's ass about college?  The SEC might be rougher than the rest but it's still college.  Good for him that he makes an obscene amount of money.

Technically, more people give a rat's ass about college football than the NFL. Also being squeezed slowly out of the rat's ass are directions to go back and read the original question, which asked if there has ever been a successful head coach to come from under Belichick. No mention of "NFL" in there anywhere...

All NFL coaching trees begin with George Halas, Paul Brown, and Vince Lombardi.

Are you sure you can qualify Vince Lombardi?  He and Landry were both on the same staff with the Giants.

And technically is the best type of correct, right?  NFL football is the most popular sport in America.  More people might watch college but pro is chosen as favorite.

If you want to get technical, define "successful."  Mangini and Weis were mentioned in the original post with "head coach" and I'm not sure what Mangini's NCAA record was.  Are we talking about Weis at ND and that's it since it's the only place he's been a head coach?  Weis, Ferentz, and Hill--other college coaches from other posts--since the NFL isn't concerned?  Nope, in the original post it also says, "Who else was there?" and by Mangini being mentioned I imagine NFL coaches were to be included.  "You can get a good look at a T-bone steak by sticking your head up a bull's ass..."

With that being said, Groh and Saban bitched out for the NCAA after one and two years, respectively.  Groh went 9-7 with the Jets in 2000 and was the winner in the "Midnight Miracle" but the Jets didn't make the playoffs.  Saban goes 9-7 then leaves after a 6-10 for 'Bama.  These turds signed multi-year contracts and then bailed.  Weak.  Though both had a least one winning NFL season, I wouldn't call them "successful" in the NFL but they are "successful" in college if wins is what you mean.

What I'm saying, Stroke, is it's a lot easier to be "successful" in college than the pros.  Go to Crap U and take three powder puff non-conferences at the beginning of the season...that'll get the W/L column rolling on the right side.  Beyond that, there is no parity in the NCAA so "any given Sunday" does not apply on Saturday per DeBenneville "Bert" Bell's inference.  Pete Carroll is a beast at USC but the Pac-10 isn't necessarily a stud conference which can be said for the majority of NCAA football conferences.

Furthermore, Charlie Weis is extremely "successful" because he makes an assload of money and ND is barely bowl eligible.  Much like Saban, "good for him that he makes an obscene amount of money."  So, yea, everybody is "successful" because they make a ton of money or coach in the NFL or NCAA which only a handful of people have the opportunity to do.  Break it down to wins if you want.

Wow, what an asshole reply I've made to a decent topic.  Thanks, Stroke.
