T.J. Houshmandzadeh latest option at WR

by Brian Biggane

While there appears to be a growing possibility the Dolphins will use one of their three picks in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft on a wide receiver, another option has surfaced in the person of Cincinnati’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network included Miami in his list of six teams who may have an interest in the Bengals wideout after Cincinnati essentially gave him his walking papers when they used their franchise tag on placekicker Shayne Graham.

Schefter listed Seattle, San Francisco, Tennessee, Baltimore and Philadelphia as the teams who could be lining up alongside Miami to make Houshmandzadeh an offer.

The 6-foot-1, 199-pounder would fill the Dolphins’ need for a big receiver who could stretch the field, even though he was often more of a possession guy playing opposite Ocho Cinco with the Bengals.

Houshmandzadeh had 92 catches for 904 yards and four touchdowns last season, when Carson Palmer missed most of the season with an elbow injury. When Palmer was healthy in 2007, he was among the league leaders with 112 catches for 1,143 yards and 12 TDs. He’s had 90 or more catches in three straight seasons.

At 31 he’s not getting any younger, and would likely be looking for both term and a sizable bonus. Still, there’s no doubt the Dolphin brass will be tossing his name back and forth as free agency approaches.

lol - i love how now in articles it has to say "ocho cinco"  LOL!!!

but seriously, TJ is a tremendously talented guy and is not the head case 85, is....if the price is right i wouldn't mind seeming him in a fins uni.  that being said, i believe there are much better options out there this offseason.

I'm betting T.J. winds up in San Francisco.

I don't want any more players if I can't spell their names.

We need to dumb down this team, please.  Sign more guys named Smith.

I'm with you on that bet... I think SF wants him badly enough to overpay at this point.

And for Maine, I will try to talk Iheanyi Uwaezuoke, Tshimanga Biakabutuka, Chris Fuamatu-Ma'a'fala and Obafemi Ayanbadejo out of retirement.

My personal favorite is Kabeer Gbaja Biamila, if only for the acronym.

Add Chidi Anhoutou to that list.  Wink

One of my favorite all-time fantasy football team names was "Obafemi's Missing U"
