Dave, I'm with you 100%. I want our rivals to do well. I'd like nothing better than to meet an undefeated FSU in November and end their season with a loss. It's a little more complicated in the NFL because of the division playoff implications, but in general, I root for AFC East teams whenever their wins will not negatively impact the Fins.

The one exception might be Alabama. I have nothing against Bama or its fans, per se, but their coach is the devil. I'll root against them at every opportunity until he whose name shall not be spoken is run out of town.

i cant stand  Them Gators , Hate, yes i liked it better wen FSU & Miami were on top.

Soon enough.

 Grin

But in all truth, Majority of people hate to see perfection especially when it comes to your rival team.  Now if its is your team, you would have not one care in the entire world cause you will rub it in everyone faces.  So case in point,  Not just FSU fans but Fans in general are sometimes petty.  We all can be pricks.

I can admit, when Miami ruled the world, i was cocky S.O.B.  But the yrs of football futility hit  me and you learn to be a humble Fan.  You learn that a program can rise and then Fall.  It happens

Dave,
I'm sure I was one of the three noles you were talking about as well, and all I really got to say is your blog post is a lot like Tim Tebow crying after the game. Sounds like sour grapes to me.  The gators lost, get over it. Of course rival fans are going to be happy about the loss. If facebook was around back in the 90s there would have been all kinds of groups and fan pages (whatever they have on that site) making fun of the noles when they lost huge games. Just cause the internet wasn't around back then doesn't mean the gators were rooting for the noles. I know a bunch of gator fans and they have no problem bringing up how bad we've been the last 8 years, which is fine, but when the gators get totally manhandled for 60 minutes we're going to let them hear about it too.

That explains why you can't understand how F$U fans can relish in the defeat of a bitter rival. I'm a dieheard Gator fan and everytime F$U or Miami losses im like a pig in slop. A great Saturday of college football to me is a GATOR win and losses by F$u, Miami, Jawga, and Tenn. You always wish for your rivals to lose.

Dave, this is why people relish the Gators losing.  As an aside, surprisingly, GoCowboys didn't use his usual name for Miami (ScUM), but did for Florida State (F$U).  Strange...
Anyway, It's a cycle of hatred that goes 'round and 'round.  I may not pick on you when the Gators lose, because you're not into it, but if Cowboys and I were office mates, I'd have been in his face all day Monday because he'd have been in my face after VA Tech, Clemson, and UNC, and most certainly after each of the last two Gators championships.  Your guys hate our guys, ours hate yours.  We give each other hell over it. As long as nobody's punching out players (classy Notre Dame fans, those), I don't have a problem with some trash talk.

It's not even the fact that people route against Florida.  I get that.  It's that after the Gators lose, how everyone comes out of the woodwork to gloat about it.

Guess you've hit the big-time.  Welcome to life as a Hurricanes fan.

As a political/cultural aside:  Welcome to life as an American.
