Okay I know that I am going to get rapped for this but Miami should try to get Brandon Marshall.

I've been following this murder trial of Darrent Williams in Denver. there is coverage everywhere here and it's one of the biggest things that has ever happened in the history of Denver.

Marshall feels highly responsible for Darrent getting killed that night. They were aiming for the limo that Marshall was in but instead got the limos mixed up and fired at the limo Williams was in. I don't have time to go into all the high drama. Just go to the Broncos page of the Denver Post.

This has psychologically bothered Marshall. Shanahan knew how to deal with Marshall. McDaniels had no clue about the situation and how fragile Marshall was and rode him emotionally all season. McDaniels didn't care about what happened before and wanted to really get rid of all Shanahan players that were loyal (I heard that Eddie Royal was on the plank too).

Marshall even stated that he hated Denver. Not the people but because of what happened.

I think that Bill Parcells can reach Marshall just like he's done with Ricky Williams, Keyshawn Johnson and others. I don't think that Marshall would be a problem for the Dolphins. Parcells has a good history of dealing with so called malcontents that he's bought in (sans Terrell Owens who was bought in against his wishes by Jerry Jones).

I'd offer Ted Ginn and another player. Marshall is still young.

What are your thoughts? Should Miami try to get him?

Yes, but its unrealistic, and he isn't worth a first rounder, which is probably what they'll want.  If we could ship Ginn and Crowder and maybe a third or fourth, I'd be all for it.  We could draft McClain and sign Dansby.  Dream scenario, but highly unlikely.

Would you give up a second round pick for Marshall?

Tough decision, but I think I would.  You mentioned how Parcells has done with problem players, plus I think we are spending our second rounder on a wr anyways....it may as well be a proven Guy.

If the Irish Tuna Coalition feel they can keep Marshall's attitude in check, then I would give up the second rounder for him in a heartbeat. Same with Singletary & my Niners. Brandon Marshall is a top-5 WR in the league right now, based solely on talent and ability to perform on the field, and is still young and strong at age 25 (26 later this month). You want a guy who can be your go-to receiver? Well, the guy who holds two of the top-3 "most receptions in a game" marks in NFL history seems like a decent candidate. Make him your #1, make Ginn your speedy deep guy to keep safeties honest, Hartline/Bess as your slot and support, and voilla! you have yourself a real receiving corps. Won't Chad Henne be pleased...as he stands in the pocket behind one of the best left tackle anchors in the league and scans the field.

Yes...get Marshall to go with Dansby. Then you grab the best nose tackle in round one, the best safety and OL with your next 2-3 picks (rd 3-4 area) and go smiling into next season, knowing that both the Jets and Patriots are sitting up north in the cold, thinking "fuck, Miami's developing into a scary looking squad down there."

I could'nt agree more.  Marshall is a top-5 reciever in this league, if we could get this guy for a second round pick, I would do it in a heartbeat.  If the Dolphins want Henne to be a sucessful QB, they need to get him a big time weapon, like Brandon Marshall.

From the guys that know Brandon Marshall downtown, they say that he's a real cool guy. I haven't ran into him personally but that's what I hear.

I never take anything the press says as gospel. There is more truth on this forum than what comes out of the AP office at times. Brandon Marshall was clearly affected by Darrent Williams murder and he wanted out of Denver at that time.

Marshall would work in Miami. You have a coach in Sparano that is straight down the line and Parcells who specialty is so called "problem" players. Look at what he did with Lawrence Taylor. He took Taylors anger in life and channeled it to the football field and even gets on Taylor these days if he messes up.

I can see Miami trading away Ted Ginn Jr in a deal that would bring Marshall to Miami. I think that you can get an impact receiver in the later rounds (Mark Clayton went in the 7th round in 1983).

If the Dolphins swing a deal for Marshall, you can pencil them in for the AFC Championship. An offense with Marshall, Brown, Ricky, Hartline/Bess and Camarillo and maybe Fasano gets his game back would be scary!

If the Dolphins swing a deal for Marshall, you can pencil them in for the AFC Championship.

Not an extreme stretch, but only if after signing Marshall, Miami also gets the following dominos to drop:

* Henne continues to develop, particularly in keeping turnovers down
* Our sophomore DB's, Davis-Smith, continue to develop into a pair of front line corners
* Ronnie-Ricky are on the field together for at least 12 games
* Our first round draft pick D-lineman steps in immediately and boosts Miami's run-D
* The Dolphins enjoy an "overall team health" situation close to what they experienced 2 years ago

If those things happen, I'll pencil them in for an AFC title game appearance.
