it was the 4 gb one, a little smaller than my first x box 360 but as long as it plays x box 360 games and the dvds that i have, i am happy. I could have afforded the 250 gb one, but i wanted to go for the cheaper one.

there's a 4 GB and a 250 GB?  Why such a huge disparity in memory size?

One has 4GB flash, one a 250GB hard drive.

The discrepancy stems from the history of the XBox-360. It initially debuted in two models, a premium unit with a 20GB hard drive and a basic unit with no hard drive. The drive in the premium model just kept increasing in size while the basic model started to include small amounts of flash memory (initially 256MB) to the point where the difference is what you noted.

I can't imagine that you couldn't later add the hard drive yourself, should you see fit, but it might end up costing you more money in the long run should you go that route.

Realistically, 4 GB wouldn't be enough for me, at the rate I download songs for Rock Band
