You probably missed this game.  It was supposed to be a co-op game, but they didn't have the online co-op done in time when the game launched, so it was only "couch co-op".  It hurt the game's review scores, but it still got in the 8 range.  Since then, however, they have added the online co-op patch.

The game isn't like old Lara Croft (Tomb Raider games).  Instead, it's a top down, dual-stick shooter (think like Smash TV, from the old days).  And it's co-op driven.  You play as Lara and this 10,000 year old Mexican Warrior, each with different abilities.  You are forced to work together to move through levels.  For example, the Mexican can throw spears, which Lara can stand on, and Lara can grapple the Mexican up ledges.  ....and there are more.

The levels are part shooter, part puzzle, and pretty fun, especially in co-op.

Best of all, it's on sale -- really cheap -- I think I only paid 7 bucks, bought it online.  I highly recommend if you have a co-op friend to play with at home or a friend online.

I played the demo of this on Steam,I agree it wasn't like the other Lara Croft games, for me it had a more Baldur's Gate type feel to the game.I ended up not buying it,I'm not fond of the controls for P.C. (I couldn't play Buldur's gate either! Embarrassed  Cheesy )

Thought about trying the demo on Steam, but it never really grabbed me. Maybe because there's only been a million of 'em since the original. Last one I played was 2 (horrible). One was good, too bad they milked the hell out of the rest of the series. Co-op does sound fun though.
