^^^ Agree.  WR is a tough position from a PR perspective.

QB: "when the game is on the line i want the ball in my hands, in the pocket finding the open receiver; as far as I am concerned we can pass the ball on every play"  --- everyone calls him a born leader with confidence.

RB: "when the game is on the line I want the ball in my hands, I will pound the hole and make the play; as far as I am concerned we can run the ball on every play."  -- everyone calls him a born leader with confidence.

WR: "when the game is on the line I want the ball thrown in my direction I will make the catch; as far as I am concerned every play the ball should be thrown to me"  -- everyone calls him a selfish diva with no sense of team
False equivalency.  Change the first two to "we should pass the ball on every play" or "we should run the ball on every play" and the perception is not much different.

But both are I want to be THE MAN.

My point is it is almost impossible to show leadership from the WR position.  If you tell the media the QB should spread the ball around you are called a pussy that lacks passion.  If you tell the media the ball should come your way you called an egotistical diva.

The problem is that when a WR doesn't get the ball, he usually blames the coaching staff or the QB (either explicitly or implicitly).

If a RB blamed his lack of carries (or production) on the coaching staff or the line, you would see a similar response.
