I, too, am annoyed with Crowder's mouth, but seeing the absolute farce of a job that his replacements (Dobbins and Carpenter) did, I can't agree with the calls to boot him... yet.  We need a replacement first.

On a related note, my vote is actually for Dobbins.  In nearly every game I watched, I saw #51 getting burned, failing to make tackles, and just all-around sucking.  The guy is an unmitigated liability on the field.

Well thats using a little false logic, by assuming the Fins won't bring someone in to replace him.

"Out", meaning "out of the lineup".

SpiderDan made my same point.

Yea, but that is because they are playing the backups.  of course the backups are going to be worse than the starters.  you aren't going to be able to pay somebody who is starter material to come be channing crowders backup.

Well based on this theory I think everyone, including his supporters, would want to see Henne gone. If it means we automatically get an upgrade at the position then heck yea ... sign me up. The problem is it doesn't quite work that easy. It's hard to replace known commodities and the reason why most teams don't just dump players whenever fans cry wolf.

If he is giving you solid play, and I think most people would say he is, then the priority in upgrading gets pushed down the list.

He's not giving solid play though, he is giving play that is better than the teams backups.

Well following this train of thought the topic should be more aptly titled "what 2nd stringer do you want to see moved up the depth chart ahead of the existing starter" ... I'll stick with my point that you are using some false logic as I don't think that was the point of the topic.

As for SpiderDan, you make a very good point about Dobbins.  Now that you mention it I recall him running around missing a lot of tackles.

I look at it this way:  if you think someone is doing such a bad job that you're willing to roll the dice on a replacement (in, say, the 5th round of the draft), that's the person you should name for purposes of this conversation.

I'm not thrilled with Brandon Marshall's antics, but since any replacement would almost certainly be a downgrade, he's not a good selection.  Similarly, while Crowder's shenanigans are old, it's clear that he's better than any-bum-off-the-waiver-wire.  If we had a better backup for him, he'd be a better candidate for demotion/release.

That's why I want to get rid of his backup.

Ronnie or Ricky. Doesn't matter which, but Lex is a beast who shouldn't be riding the bench and will turn some heads if he gets playing time this year. -EK

I can think of a few but my top pick is Channing Crowder.  He's the one weak spot on our defense.
