Reflections: Ronnie Brown

I think that it's going to be fashionable to trash-talk Ronnie now that he's gone.  Here's how I feel.

I don't think that he was ultimately "worth" a 2nd round pick.  However, I do think that he was a good player for us.  He gave us some of the most exciting moments of the last few years, and for that, I'm thankful.  I enjoyed the wildcat and will remember Ronnie forever because of those games, specifically against the Pats.

We weren't a good team most of that time, but he made those games worth watching because of his versatility.  ...and he did all this will a good attitude and no real drama.

I'm not happy to see him go, but I certainly understand him being gone, from both sides.  I wish him the best in Philly.  I hope he does well.

I liked Ronnie.  While it would have been nice (in super hindsight warrior mode) to have picked Rodgers, in all honesty we could have repicked the top 5 (knowing what we know now) and Ronnie still would have been the best pick.

Any player that would up better than Ronnie would have been an incredible reach at #2 (even Rodgers, given that he fell to 24).  And keep in mind, Saban tried to get out of that slot and couldn't find any takers.

Ronnie was ok he never really "Wowed" me. He was not terrible, he was not great and he definitely was not a #2. I do not dislike him I just had higher hopes for him that never really materialized. He was exciting to watch in the wildcat however.

I always liked Ronnie, but thought he was slow and lacked elusiveness as a whole.  I liked when he ran dudes over and gave great second effort to gain every inch, but the dancing behind the line never fooled anyone.  If he took advantage of his talents (power) he'd be a better back.  He's more Barry Foster than Barry Sanders.

I agree with Spider that I still take Ronnie over any of those other guys in the top five. I just wish we could have gotten more out of him, but it is what it is. I have no ill will toward his time other then the sick feeling I have remembering how bad some of those years were overall.

I liked Ronnie Brown and wish him the best in Philly,I'm going to enjoy seeing him as a cog in in offense,rather than having to be the offense...

I liked Ronnie while he was with the Phins, he was a solid player, but definitely not worth the overall #2 pick in the draft.

he made some great highlite reels, especially with the Wildcat and his ability to sell the play.  his play, however,  definitely dropped off in the last year.  whether this was due to some lingering injuries, play-calling, etc, he wasn't hitting the holes as hard and he "shuffled" too much at the line of scrimmage.  who knows?  the game takes a physical toll on you.

I will say that I was bummed about his press-conference I saw on ESPN friday mroning at the Philly practice where he was talking about winning since high-school and how that carried on to the Barners, but he never really got that chance with the Phins (except the 1 playoff game he mentioned).  he feels as Philly is the winning team.

my opinion about the Eagles is that too many cooks spoil the soup and this "Dream Team" they have assembled, has too many egos.  they're one major hit on Vick away from having Vince Young pilot this team....scary thought!!!!!!  my prediction?  9-7 season, 1st round loss in the playoffs.  this team reminds of the mid 90's Phins.

There was the Asante Samuel news conference this week where it sounded as if things might get a little touchy on this front. The one where he said "If they're tired of my big-play making ability, maybe they'll want to ship me off." But Samuel was his usual, loud, trash-talking self during practice Friday and seemed happy. And while there's a chance they could trade him if they get offered a great pick or maybe a great linebacker, there's a greater chance all three of these guys open the season on the roster, with Asomugha and Samuel starting and an eager Rodgers-Cromartie waiting to go in when he's needed

I'm telling ya, too many hi-profile stars does not a Super Bowl team make.  I may be wrong on this, but the odds they pull this off are not in their favor.

The only time a backup QB has destroyed a team's chemistry is when the starter is playing bad (e.g. Johnson/Flutie).  If Vick is playing bad, the Eagles have no hope anyway.
