Pats add Edds, work out Will Allen

Pats claimed Edds off waivers and also worked out Will Allen today. I wouldn't expect them to sign Allen prior to Week 1. But once Week 1 is over and the contract isn't guaranteed, they might sign him.

inside info on what? Edds wasn't even around last year. He was in training camp for a month. And Will Allen has played like 2 games in 2 years. Not sure these guys will give much info. They haven't been around.

And I think its tough to get info, and within 4 or 5 days teach your team whatever info you got.

It could be an intelligence signing.  Or it could be a we think we found the next Larry Izzo signing. 

Really hard to know.  If Edds is not a Patriots when they play the Chargers we will know for sure.  At this point is just wild speculation as the modivation for the signing.

Yes, he has intelligence on the Dolphins. Teams tweak themselves during the off season and don't always show all the modifications in pre-season games.  Edds would have knowledge of what the Dolphins have been up to.

But it could be simply that BB thinks that Edds will improve the depth of the NEP linebacker core.  There is a reason why there is so much movement within the division.  Outside the players that are already Patriots the player that BB has the most knowledge about are the Jets, Bills and Dolphins.   And right now Dolphins are on the top of the list while preparing for the game BB no doubt has spent quite of bit of time assessing all the players the Dolphins have and may very well have concluded that Edds was someone he wanted.
