Fed up in NYC

« on: March 16, 2012, 01:00:16 pm »

I know I don't post here often and mostly just read from time to time on sentiment, frustrations, etc.. but figured I'd share this.-

I live up in the NYC area and on Wed night I met my gf out for dinner at the Time Warner Center before heading to see a flick.. We decided to eat at Porterhouse, which is located in the complex there. To my surprise, we ere given great seats just on the fly, but then noticed that Ross and his wife was sitting maybe 10 feet over at the next table. (He owns the whole building)

Never one to bother folks of this stature, I decided I'll never get the chance to say anything to him likely ever again, so I asked the  maĆ®tre d'  of the place to send over an after dinner drink if they would like on me. He declined as expected, turned around and said thank you, so I just explained I was a life long fan, and hope he brings optimism and hope to us fans and left it at that. His wife chuckled, and he asked if I knew about Marshall. Said of course and that he likely got rid of him at the right time with the stories the Post has published (not wanting to take sides on that decision of trading him). Before closing the conversation, I just asked if there was any update on Peyton, where he threw up his hands, shook his head, as if to say, "No idea!". I left it at that and wished them a nice evening.

Real comforting to hear that his top priority of this off season- and admittedly so- re: Peyton, he just wasn't in touch or knew anything. But I get that since Peyton has taken his time and no one knows.  Now hearing they asked  Marino to get involved to even get Manning to meet with Philbin is downright ridiculous as they clearly could not see that they just were not in the running. He just doesn't have the confidence of people in the industry it seems - and almost no one wants to even consider coming to Miami.

This guy scares me. Everyone up from the guy who takes your ticket at a game to the GM can be fired. Owners can't. And this could be like this for a VERY long time... Sigh...

^^^ What exactly did you expect Ross to "Know"? Peyton hasn't signed anywhere, so no one knows anything.

I agree though, he and Ireland do not have much respect around the league currently.

I find it hilarious that some people say ross is a terrible owner because he is involved in every little decision and won't let the football people do the football work, and some other people criticize ross because he isn't involved with the day to day operations of the football team.  He is either one or the other he can't be both.  People just want to blame him for everything when it clearly isn't his fault.
