from the Miami Herald (the original cited source)

Quote
Back to Davis, general manager Jeff Ireland released a statement on the trade that failed to explain why the team is taking this step:

"We appreciate all the contributions Vontae has made to the Dolphins since we drafted him in 2009 and we want to wish him the best of success in Indianapolis," Ireland said.

I'd love to see the original quote from Landshark's report.  Unless he's fabricating the story.  I haven't seen anything anywhere attributing Ireland to any type of "selling low" comment.

Edited to add: There's this article which alludes to something similar.  But the statement was made by the columnist (shocking, Pot-Stirrer Salguero), and not by Jeff Ireland.

^^^^^

Exactly.  It was a statement made by the Herald saying that Ireland told Salguero that the reason he got back less than what he paid for Marshall and Davis was because of character issues.  I've seen tweets about it as well.  If it was started by Salguero himself, so be it.

There is no one questioning the character issue of your statements as that seems self evident to at least be a portion of the reason. We were questioning your implication that Ireland says he "sold low" as no one has pointed us to anything remotely close and in Indy fans/media feel they overpaid.

How many different threads can be made where we talk about the same things?

Is this really considered selling low?  I think we got good value for the trade.

In a way you could call it that because they got back less than what they paid.  Same deal with Marshall

Point is... These aren't Irelands words. Yet you wrote it like he called you up and said this to you over the phone.  Are you just trying to make him look like a buffoon?

Players aren't investments. You rarely get back more than you paid for them.  Especially after 3-4 seasons of service.

I don't need to make him look like a buffoon.   It's been proven that he is capable of doing that himself.   Wink
