I think EVERYONE is a winner in this trade.

TB gets the best CB in football. Jets get a 1st and a 4th (probably a 3rd round pick) for a guy who is gonna leave after the season anyway. And Revis will be in Tampa for AT LEAST 2 years meaning he has AT LEAST $32 mill guaranteed. TB isn't giving up a 1st round pick for a guy to stay one year then cut him!!

Great deal for all parties!

It's an easily voidable deal...if they aren't happy after this season or next, they cut him loose.  That type of deal makes it a little more palatable, imo.

Still glad my Niners didn't go after him though...

If TB gives up a 1st and a 4th  for a guy to play 1 year and then cut him then that owner is gonna fire everyone involved and he should.  A 1st and a 4th for a one year rental player is beyond stupid!

TB will hold onto him for at least 2 years. And in this league no deal really goes too much beyond 2 years before teams take a second look and restructure or cut a guy.

Realistic hypothetical scenario in which this turns out to be a one-year rental and no one gets fired:

Revis ends up having more problems with the knee, problems that weren't foreseen by anyone but seem likely to continue  You don't fire a GM for a player having health issues, and this "no guaranteed money" contract means they could cut him loose after one year. While TB would still be out the draft picks involved, they'd be off the hook for his ridiculous salary.

Only person who might get fired in that "perfectly reasonable" scenario is the team doctor who gave the green light on Revis' health.

I believe the GM would still get fired for making a risky trade involving a 1st and a 4th round pick

^^^ And I believe...check that, I am "certain," that the GM and the owner likely had extensive conversations about Revis' health, prior to making the trade.

In my scenario, the GM doesn't get fired...done and done.

I'm sure they did have an extensive conversation, but if (when) the heat comes down on the franchise the owner isn't going to make himself the fall guy, he ain't going nowhere. The GM will take the fall for things if this trade goes bad.
