The 4th installment of Transformers is one of the worst reviewed movies of Bay's career. Yet after opening to $100 million domestically (leads the year so far) and $300 million worldwide, it brought in another $10mil on Monday and $10mil on Tues. Estimating to bring in another $40mil this weekend plus it opens in Europe and South / Latin Americas this weekend. I definitely smell more sequels.. or whatever you call movie 5, 6, 7....

(I'll be seeing this tonight, despite what Dave and I have previously discussed about crappy movies, but I always fall for giant transforming robots fighting with dinosaurs)

Trailer for Horrible Bosses 2:

After releasing an image of Clark Kent, Zack Synder releases first shot of Superman:

Synder goes on to say that no photos of Wonder Woman will be released yet as Gal Gadot is still "getting ripped" for her role.

Rumors also state that obscure villains may be making an appearance in the movie:
Morgan Edge (mob leader from Superman)
Victor Zsasz (serial killer from Batman)
Amanda Waller (head of the Suicide Squad)

Yeah, I don't know why people continue to line up for movies they don't like.

It's one thing to fall for a shitty sequel once, or maybe even twice, for completeness sake.  But Transformers 4 is considered a turd by pretty much everyone, yet it's making money hand over fist.

With the 4th of July weekend down 47% from last year and nothing major being released, Transformers held onto to Number 1 with another $36mil.

Totals:
$174mil domestic
$218mil international

approx numbers of course, but thats still 400mil in 2 wks. crazy.  I made notes, if anyone is interested, on why it is being reviewed so bad. But I will say this.. it looked awesome.

Next up is Apes.. should easily knock this out of first and probably pass Tformers and Cap for the years' top spot.

Call me a sucker - I'm looking forward to seeing Transformers 4.  Despite the awful reviews...

Also, I REALLY liked Horrible Bosses, but I wonder if a sequel might be over-doing it?  The trailer looks like more of the same, but I can't be sure it will be "fresh" enough to be funny.  I'll probably go see it, though.

^^^ Ditto

I could give two shits what critics say about really, anything! Why do YOU get to watch a movie, play a game etc. and get to tell ME about it? I'll make my final decision by watching trailers, gameplay etc. thank you very much. People's taste in things vary way too much. I'm not gonna listen to some blowhard that can't stand any movie that doesn't have Oscar written all over it because that's his "job".

I saw Transformers 4 (with a child).  If you evaluate quality times length, it's the worst movie I've ever seen.

It's interminably long (2h45m).
It's bad as a Transformers toy/cartoon fan.
It's bad as an action movie.
I say this as someone that liked the 2007 Transformers movie.

Please, I implore you: wait to see this movie for free when it comes out on DVD or something.  Do not give Michael Bay more domestic money for this steaming turd.

Part of the reason why this movie is WAY TOO EFFING LONG is the shameless pandering to Chinese audiences.  The last hour of the movie is in China for no real reason, among many other things.

Read an article that Transformers 4 has now passed Avatar as the highest grossing film in Chinese history. I believe it's up to $220-ish or something last time I checked.

That puts it around $700mil to date. I'm guessing, depending on Apes this weekend, it could be the first $1bil movie of 2014.

If it does fall short, I'm estimating that Guardians of the Galaxy could be the first (or second if Tformers makes it) to hit $1 bil.

As Dave likes to make fun of me for it, I typically like Michael Bay movies.

With that said, I have heard so many terrible reviews from fans of the Transformers franchise that I might end up waiting for this one to hit the Redbox.  I'm baffled by how its making money, but I imagine its because of lack of competition in the theaters (for now).

I like some Michael Bay movies.  I like "The Rock" quite a bit, actually.  I think that his movies are good for what they are, action camp.  But that just doesn't carry out into sequels.
