We are spreading the money around which is a smart strategy even if the players are working off of potential and coming off their only solid years. Shaq was a much hyped player out of Clemson who is still only 25 and had 6.5 sacks as basically a reserve. I can see this move paying dividends, more so than Ereck. No word on the guaranteed money yet but it's probably similar to Flowers.

So far, two guys with potential. Let's try to sign a "sure thing" now.

Another former 1st round pick. Perhaps our coaching staff feels these guys have talent, just need to be coached up better. It's not a bad idea considering what they did with the team this past year. I kinda like that idea better then sign a "sure thing" which you'll have to pay a premium for.

Well, Lawson was definitely not paid like the top DL player available, but Flowers did not come cheap. He wasn't the top Guard available but his contract is definitely more on expensive end for someone of his caliber. We are tkaing a gamble on him but paying him like he is a sure thing. That's my problem.

Well he is a guard that can also play tackle in a pinch. That's a pretty important thing to have wouldn't you say especially on a team that has neither? Obviously they targeted him as a need pick and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. For once they are spending some money on the offensive line and people are already criticizing the move. As I said, I don't think there's anyway that the Dolphins are going to be able to live up to the high expectations that some fans have.

I've been looking more into this move and for the last 8 games Flowers was really good. I think Miami is hoping that continues going forward and he outplays his contract. Lots of players are slow bloomers, let's hope Ereck is another one of them.
