Don't think either Tom or Tua are interested in being a backup and make no mistake Tua is planning on playing next year. I don't think it makes sense from either player's perspective.

Get rid of Tua, hire Brady for a year, who would kill it with our receivers.  Give Thompson the backup role and draft a QB.  Tua would make a great backup somewhere else, but he's just not built for a 17 week NFL season.

Brady will finish 8-9 man. He just doesn’t have it anymore at 46 or whatever.

It's a lot to ask a 46 year old to stay healthy. Plus, it's a one and done and we have no draft picks. We dump Tua for Brady, then we are gambling on one Superbowl only and then a ton of mediocrity or worse for years to come, without our first rounders to help with the rebuild. Just not worth it.

The idea I had was to give Tua the year off to recover from his injuries.

Hence, signing Brady for only one year.

Plus, it would be funny to sign him just to watch all of you guys freak out.

But, it has been confirmed that Tua will be the starter in 2023.

LOl, you're joking right?  I'd bet you any amount of money that 46 year old Tom Brady has a better chance of staying healthy through the season versus 24 year old Tua.  Brady isn't just any 46 year old, he's probably the best conditioned player in the NFL.  He works at it 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
