I'm not much of an art person. I've never been able to appreciate paintings with splatters all over the place for example. But I went to an exhibit of Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures mixed in with a gorgeous botanical garden. The sheer amount of work was impressive itself.

I actually went there at night for their Valentine's concert performance, but I almost think it would be better during the day. Many of his works are nestled among the fauna. The huge glass tree was my favorite.

That looks beautiful.  I'm sorry I missed it.

That last sculpture almost looks like it could be a tropical flower of some sort. I'd like a smaller version of it for my coffee table, thank you!

Fairchild Garden is most excellent... The first date I ever went on when I moved to FL was a good lunch date that turned into a Seaquarium visit, followed by a walk through the Fairchild Botanical Garden, followed by sex in a hammock. Fairchild Botanical Garden, for all you locals who think that there isn't a lot of entertainment value in any place with "Garden" in the name (outside Madison Square Garden), is amazing. It sprawls out over quite a bit of area, and they have outdoor paths in a completely natural setting as well as an indoor area where there are lots of displays and botanical information.

Extremely cool stuff...take a date, bring a hammock.

You didn't miss it... the display runs through May 31st. I highely recommend it.

The only major drawback is how far away it is (especially for a West Palm resident like myself). It's south of where 95 turns into US1.

My house in Miami is less than a thousand feet from Fairchild. It's pretty sweet. It's a really nice place to walk around and if you're into gardening/botany they have plant sales pretty often.

I'm actually going to go check this out.  I had never heard of Fairchild Garden.

Chihuly is the shit, though.
