Here's a good question for all.  Would having an online relationship with another woman be considered cheating on your wife/girlfriend as long as you don't meet up with that other woman physically?

Any thoughts?

Yeah, probably... although I doubt it would effect the divorce settlement like the real thing... Cheating is really all about the other person's perception. If you current wife / girlfriend thinks it's cheating, it might as well be.

I once heard that women are more affected by men's emotional cheating. In other words, what tears at them the most is the man sharing his time and company with another woman, when he's promised himself to her.

With men, it's the other way around. What bothers us, it appears, is knowing a girl had sex or did something sexual with someone else. Just digs us down deep inside.

Hope that helps. It should at least tell you to which side I lean as far as pertains to your question.

SCFinfan, this article describes exactly what you're talking about:

I read the full article in the magazine, and it was quite interesting.  And on the topic, there's also a 3-page article in the Fall issue about porn:

http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-20050808-000007.html

It seems like a pretty good magazine.  I'm considering subscribing.  (I'm quite interested in the way people think and perceive things.)
