Where was Miami, before we made these cuts?

John Clayton came on Sportscenter @5,and showed the Dolphins #2 at like 19 million over the cap....

NFL total access said we were only 9 million over the cap?

Anyone have a clue where we are?

9 mil is the correct figure. Finshaven have a detailed breakdown:

I've read that Miami is $19 million over if the new CBA doesn't happen. The reason for that is that certain signing bonuses go into 2006's cap, as opposed to being spread out to next year.
I will try to find the link where I read that.

It really Floored me ,Listening to Mike and Mike in the morning, they kept talking about these teams are in serious trouble with NO CBA...blah,blah,Blah...Never mentioning the Dolphins...Then John Clayton freaks me out....

I'm kind of assuming 92-95 million dollar cap...Even if it is 19 million, the cuts we've already made  should take a nice chunk out of that.....

Philly, you may have a point. I read something about Not Likely To Be Earned (NLTBE) bonuses counting towards 2006 instead of 2007, as would normally be the case.

If no new CBA is reached, it's going to suck being a free agent or draftee this year. There's just ZERO chance of the top draft picks getting nearly as much as the top picks last year. Veterans looking for a big payday are also going to be SOL.

----------------

EDIT: I've been thinking about this... talking about a $95-ish million cap makes absolutely no sense without also including any extra bonus-charges in the salary cap data. So if an article talks about a team being $X million over the $95 million cap, that figure (X) HAS to include NLTBE charges moving to 2006 (plus any similar extra charges). The $95 million cap exists only if no agreement is reached, so when talking about being over or it, it makes no sense to simultaneously assume that a new CBA is reached. It either is or it isn't. Can't have it both ways.

You know what was even worse? They said on the radio that if a team has a high draft pick, and no cap space to sign them, they loose the pick.
How sweet would it be for the Jets to cut Pennington, suck up tens of millions of dollars for the cap hit, and have to trade down for a lower first and a fifth or sixth round pick?
