Just wanted to rehash how this team's fortunes have changed over the course of two offseasons. Let's look at the 2004 offseason that was probably one of the worst in professional sports:
-Wannstedt given a two year contract extension
- Spielman given the GM position
- Marino hired as VP of operations, then quits three weeks later
- Failed to land top free agent targets, Damon Woody and John Tait
- Key free agent acquisitions were Damon McIntosh, Reggie Howard and David Boston
- Second rounder given up for AJ Feely (AJ FEELY?
?)
- Fourth rounder blown to move up one spot in the draft to get Vernon Carey (I think the Vikings really pulled a fast one here)
- Chris Foerster promoted to offensive coordinator with no experience (bad move, especially with Marc Trestman on the staff)
- Ricky retires
Now let's look at 2005 when we had a clean slate and a breath of fresh air:
- Wannstedt fired
- Saban hired
- Tony Wise and Chris Foerster fired
- Scott Linehan hired for offensive coordinator
- Hudson Houck hired for offensive line coach
- Kevin Carter, Lance Schulters and Vonnie Holliday signed
- Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, and Travis Daniels drafted
- Spielman fired
- Mueller hired
- Ricky returns
Now, my friends, let's look at this offseason, and it isn't even draft day yet!!!
- Mularkey hired as offensive coordinator
- Capers hired as defensive coordinator
- Damon McIntosh and Reggie Howard released
- LJ Shelton signed
-
Daunte Culpepper acquired through trade with VikingsGosh, I am getting some real MOJO for the upcoming season!!!!!
