From Charlotte.com:
Although the Panthers have been wording contracts in recent years to forbid players from having their own regular radio and television shows, Johnson will have a regular show next season on Sirius NFL Radio, according to sources with knowledge of Johnson’s contract with the Panthers and the satellite radio station.

What's your thought on this or really any player in the NFL that has a separate media show during the season? It's probably not a big deal if they toot the company horn.. but if they did that it wouldn't be an interesting show. Most good shows have a controversial, abrasive or just quick witted host. In all those cases the host has strong opinions about just about everything and vocalizes them.

I'm not sure I'd want a player getting on the radio the week after a humiliating loss and pointing fingers. Or worse, talking smack after a big win.

Lots of players have local shows.  ...basically, they just get asked questions by a regular radio personality for 30 minutes.  They are always really vanilla, and say a bunch of cliches.  Rarely have I heard anyone say anything really shockingly honest.  They just promote their club.

Yeah. I guess this is pretty old but today when I was in the gym I saw a player who was competing in the Madden Bowl interviewed about how he was going to play his next Madden match. He said something like "You know, just play solid football, good fundamentals, don't turn the ball over, play within ourselves, and just make plays." About Madden! Haha.

Why a national show? I'm sure that even if someone like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning had a radio show, they wouldn't get much intrest outside their markets.

Because it is on Sirius - everything is national.
