CHATTER

As of Monday night, the Dolphins had not initiated contract talks with Chris Long -- which is consistent with Peter King's si.com report that Miami is negotiating only with Jake Long and has given him a deadline to accept.

Owner Wayne Huizenga won't discuss the No. 1 pick but has such confidence in Bill Parcells that he's not conceding next season as strictly a rebuilding one: ''A lot will depend on the draft,'' he said. ``Bill's doing a good job.''

Parcells did not accompany general manager Jeff Ireland and coach Tony Sparano to workouts and visits with the potential No. 1 picks, but Huizenga said that's OK because ``that's the general manager's job.''

• Beyond Calais Campbell, Kenny Phillips and Tavares Gooden, draftnik and NFL team consultant Frank Coyle says cornerback Glenn Sharpe and receiver Darnell Jenkins are the other Canes with the best chance of being drafted, though it's no sure thing for those two. . . . Draftnik/former Browns scout Russ Lande said of Gooden, ''I'll be shocked if he gets out of the third round and he might go in the second.'' Baltimore is among several teams that like him.

This is why I'm glad he's getting rid of the team.

Way to take a quote out of context. He said its not "strictly" a rebuilding season. That means he thinks its a rebuilding year, but also thinks we can win some games. He has faith in Bill Parcells. I seem to recall a ton of people swearing the same type of blind faith to Parcells when he was hired.

Blind faith is what wins wars... Football is a war... therefore, blindfaith wins football games! (the good blind faith, not the cameron/saban/wanny type  Wink)

Da 'Phins: 1-15, it can only go up from here (god forbid 0-16)

the pats: 18-1, good luck matching that let alone beating it (god forbid 19-0)

I guarantee improvement from last season!

Crap, and here I was thinking that winning football games took talented players and a smart game plan. I wish someone would have told me that all I needed was a little blind faith. Wink

THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

I remember Glenn Sharpe.  He was the guy who got called for that PI in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State.

I think the Ohio State crowd won that game for them.  Terry Porter (the ref on the play) originally did not throw the flag.  He waited about four seconds.  I think he was scared of the crowd, which was 90% Ohio State red.
