If you can ignore the baggage, he's definitely a serviceable player.  Or was, at least.

I'm not sure if they're willing to TRADE for him, considering he's got a bloated contract.

He'll get cut and then sign somewhere else.  Nobody is going to pick up that money.

And everyone says "The Raiders" for obvious (criminal) reasons, but they already have a lot invested in another QB.

If I were Goodell, I would make this a special case.  I would award the Falcons a compensatory pick if Vick is released, and have only a percentage of his remaining signing bonus count against their salary cap.

The problem with cutting Vick *this year* is that they won't be able to split the cap hit over 2 years due to the impending no-cap season (2010).

Their best bet is that Goodell keeps Vick suspended until 2010, then they can cut him with no repercussions.

Who knows if Vick is in any football condision? He might come out 190lbs wearing a dress.

I hear people talking about Vick being a special case and the Falcons possibly receiving compensation.  (Tommy mentioned it, as well as some TV guys.)

What's so special about this situation?  Lots of players do stupid crap and end up in jail.  I'm not really arguing against it, but why would the NFL step in and help out?  Is this any different than a player who got injured and couldn't play or just ended up sucking?  If you're not on the field, you're not on the field -- why does it matter why?
