I watched the game.  They looked pretty good, and that's without Wade.  Of course, it was the Pistons, but it didn't look like they had any trouble scoring.

If the non-superstars can hit open shots, they will be hard to beat.

My favorite Heat player (Haslem) looks like he's in mid-season form already... I love watching Udonis crash the boards! Grin

Pre-season basketball?  Hell the whole regular season is pretty much like football's or baseball's pre-season.

NBA is like little league over half the teams make the playoffs, the action doesn't start until then.

I will save you the trouble.  You don't need to bother paying attention until April.  The Heat are going to make the playoffs -- no question.  The question is can they do something once they make the playoffs.

You can say that about 3 of the 4 major sports...that the regular season doesn't matter much, and that it's all just jockeying to determine which of the fringe teams join the "always in the playoffs" teams in the second, more meaningful season (the playoffs).

I will save you the trouble.  You don't need to bother paying attention until April.

No trouble...many of us watch it just because we love watching good basketball being played. That's it for me, and it's the main reason I watch any sport. Not to see who wins the championship at the very end of the season, but because I just love watching good sports being played. HS, college, pro...football, baseball and basketball...doesn't matter.

So, given your position on the NBA regular season, can I assume we won't have the honor of your company in TDMMC hoops threads until April? Or are you planning on popping in every couple of threads to remind us how worthless the games are?

If the latter, would you say that the rest of us would consider those reminders to be...

A) Noble and magnanimous attempts to save other TDMMC members from wasting time that might be better spent elsewhere?

B) Evidence that you're involved in some bizarre Cub Scouts-type group that allows you to earn a Troll badge?

No, it is 2 out of 4 sports.  Football and Baseball have meaningful regular seasons.  Basketball and Hockey aren't worth watching until the playoffs.

Baseball regular season matters, but it's pretty much decided with 20 games left (maybe not mathematically, but within reason, anyway).

Basketball regular season, I agree, doesn't mean a whole lot, but determining playoff seeding makes a pretty big difference.

If you keep tearing down my Scare-troll posts, Dave, the whole cornfield will be full of the pests...

I even toned the language down to "bugger off," which I thought showed great restraint and decency. Wink
