Two guys who are washed up, two guys that are inconsistent and a locker room cancer?  Ya, I'm real scared.

look what they did last year.  they also added a top 20 CB to across from the best CB in the league.  sanchez is going to light it up this year; he was great as a rookie.

you guys are smoking something good if you don't think the jets are clearly going to the superbowl this year.  holmes, LT, edwards, JT.....it makes me want to cry so badly  Cry

I don't think "anyone" is "clearly" going to the Super Bowl, but I do believe the Jets improved an already talented enough roster this offseason to be considered a primary contender.

This is the NFL though, so there is no "clearly" involved in the equation. Wink

Holmes is suspended for the first 4 games but the Jets should win those games with the firepower they already have. Don't know what the games are yet, but with their head in the right place, they can do damage.

IMO Holmes got shipped out of town because of the naked picture surfacing on the Internet. That was the last straw. The Rooney Family is a very classy family which believes in values and morals. You can be tough but have some class. I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers are already making plans to replace Big Ben.

I find it hard to believe  the Jets were the only team interested in Holmes, Santonio, not John. And for a fifth round pick? The Jets probably have incentives and fines stated in his contract called the "Naked Gun" clause (no pun intended).

So a lot is being made of the character issue but check this out, how many of us between 18-28 just did stupid stuff? Around 27 or 28 is when you start mellowing out and Holmes is approaching that age.  If the Jets adopt a circus environment under Rex Ryan (which is easy to do) then acquiring all this talent means nothing. But if the environment is balanced which every man is accountable, the Jets are dangerous.

John Madden has one of the highest winning percentages in football and he had plenty of players with character issues. Stabler, Tatum, Atkinson, Ted Hendricks, Alzado, the list goes on and on but Madden was also a demanding coach. Madden knew what buttons to push and when and, got on players when they were goofing off too much.

I don't get Parcells. He won two Super Bowls with players that had questionable character. I don't know what's going on in Davie or whether this is a six year rebuilding process by the Dolphins instead of a three year rebuilding process.

If you set your angst filters to maximum, the previous post actually only contains a sentence and a half.

Hey Stroke,

Its about time that Dolphin observers give the Jet front office some credit. I applaud any team that is trying to make a move. I might just go have a beer with Fireman Ed.Jets haven't been this loaded since the early 1980's.

All this move does is really make me think that Tannenbaum and the Jets have very little confidence in their ability to draft talent.

Nothing about Holmes impresses me, this was not a very good move IMO.

But I will say that they have made several other moves that I did like.

What people seem to forget is that I've been giving the stinkin' Jets credit for their moves all along. I can point to multiple posts up here and multiple spots on the radio show where I repeatedly warned Dolphins fans to watch out for what the Jets have cooking, because I can see the talent oozing out the edges.

I just don't feel the need to dog Parcells for not being as aggressive on questionable players as the Jets have been, and I don't see an accurate parallel between Miami and the Jets in regards to their current position in the "franchise rebuilding" progression.

Come on, the jets aren't that good.  The only reason they made the playoffs last year was because the colts sat out the second half against them. They were 9-7 last year.  People who are putting them in the playoffs already this year are retarded.

At least call me mentally challenged!  The Superbowl is a bit of a stretch, but making the playoffs is definately within reason (if not likely).

I'd say the Jets making the playoffs is likely, just based on the talent contained on their roster, and the youth at key positions that is still developing and improving.

I sure hope they don't though...nothing would make me happier than to see the Jets go through a gauntlet of lousy fluke breaks, like Sanchez announcing that he's leaving the NFL to join the Ice Capades, or Coach Ryan mistaking Darrelle Revis for a fajita and accidentally eating his star corner.

I was mostly referring to people on other websites.

I'm with 'stroke on this one: The Jets are scary.

Here's hoping for a serious sophomore slump from The Sanchize Wink
