if it hits you in the hands, especially in the NFL, you should catch it.

While I agree with this, you will notice that the pattern for Ginn is VERY consistent.

If he has to go up or down for the ball, he WILL drop it.  If the ball is thrown at him, he will catch it.

Problem is, in the NFL, sometimes you gotta make the tough catch.  That, and Bess is across the field from him catching everything that comes near him.  So, it seems he can't catch, but when you finally do get the ball in his hands, damn, he's a dynamic playmaker.

I see him dynamically running out of bounds to avoid contact a lot...is that what you mean?

I don't see what you see, Brian.

I think that Ginn sucked while he was here and all I'm hearing is excuses.  I think that he had enough potential to warrant keeping around.

The throws were bad?  Bullshit.  If the ball hits you smack in both hands, you come down with it.  If it were an isolated incident, fine.  But, it wasn't.  He was a notorious pass dropper.  I also don't think that he ever lived up to the threats of an open field guy.  He never did squat in the open field, because it seemed like the only passes he ever caught were scampers to the sideline.

I like Ginn and I wish him the best.  I wish that we would've held on to him because I still have faith that his physical skills are good enough to warrant waiting for him to catch up mentally, but thus far, he's been flat out awful.

Even in the return game, he's had no consistency.  He won a game for us and showed amazing skills, but on your average return, he was ineffective and lost.

I think the key to Ginn becoming a good player is # of receptions.  I don't expect a guy to get 1 or 2 catches a game and turn them up field for big gains.  However, he was never able to get a lot of receptions, because he didn't have the hands to get in any kind of rhythm.

I'm with you that we should have held on to him, B, but I think we're coming at it from different angles.

There wasn't one pass in the highlight reel that a so-called "#1, deep threat receiver" shouldn't come up with. The one that kills me is the one at about the 1:01 mark where it was right there (and clearly a big play in the game where Joey Porter freaked out in the back) and he did not come up with it.

Also that one in the end zone - he totally "alligator armed" it and should have been able to jump up and score a TD.
