I have to say,I'm not Loving the idea of him as a manager, but don't hate it either....I'm a little tired of, well he was 24 -13 as the interim manger...Yeah, but there wasn't any pressure to win either, and the health of the team started to improve as the season went on....I don't think it gets any better, the problem starts and ends with Jim Hendry. He's already got his "Chubby" for Adam Dunn to play first base,as his top priority...Umm yeah Great a 31 year old,not great defensive first baseman, that hit's home runs, and strikes out a lot... Undecided  3-4 year deal, that like almost all of Jim Hendry's recent players he's had a chubby for we tend to over pay for them, and regret them by year 2.

Good Luck Mike....

I am actually shocked they didn't wait until the Yankees were eliminated/pulled off a miracle and won the World Series until Girardi was available to interview for the gem. It's kind of a known secret that he was interested in it, as he lives in Chicago and played there. Not to mention, stupidity aside the past few months, he is a pretty good manager.

Not that a manager helps with the Cubs anyway when the problem is with their front office.

I was a little,I think it was a bit of a financial move......I admit, I was more disappointed that Bob Brenly, decided the Cubs job wasn't for him. While I think,it's unfair to him with this shitty roster,I think he could gt the most out of the team watching them daily for the past few years.

How can you not extend his contract?

His 24-13 represents .649.  Higher than the best team in the league's (Philly) full season win % of .599.  Higher than any manager in the baseball HOF.  Not extending him is basically firing him.  And firing him after going 24-13 with a team that before him went 51-74 would be worse than firing Sapano at the end of 2008 because the Dolphins lost in the playoffs.

As for being no pressure to win....if he had gone 13-24 he would not be the manager of the Cubs.

Apples and Oranges.Winning percentage? Really? He coached 2 months? Come on with this B.S...Generally Mangers manage more than 2 months to get in the HOF....The team played Nationals,Reds,Pirates (2 Series) Cardinals (2 series), Astros (2 Series),Mets,Marlins( A fading Slumping ) Padres, and Giants....All While the Team was getting healthier pitching wise, Aramis Ramirez was finally showing signs of life, Zambrano came back from Suspension, and Expanded rosters....With no pressure or expectations....Did he do a good job ....sure....But let's not Blow the record out of proportion

As for being no pressure to win....if he had gone 13-24 he would not be the manager of the Cubs.

Total Bullshit, and pointless, Because he wasn't mentioned as a possible candidate till he won....I think Alan Trammell, Or even Larry Rothschild could have won just as easy as Quade did those last few weeks...

You can argue till you're blue in the face...I don't care.....It' the way I saw the end of the season

I know you don't get into the HOF on two months.  But his win % is higher than any other manager ever.

When he took over the team they absolutely sucked.  While he was managing they won.  Seems like a good idea to keep him.
