I was banging away on my laptop for work, and this new story came on about this guy just south of here, building like a 72,215 sq ft house
http://www.kspr.com/news/local/kspr-huge-highlandville-home-spans-01132011,0,7101009.story?track=rss

(video doesn't work,sorry)

I thought, huh cool....Continued to bang away on my keyboard....

Later that night I watched Brad Metzler's decoded,It was on 2012,the hopi (sp?) tribe's predictions, Nostradamus, the Mayan calender,Some modern day Nostradamus, the Webot, the Book of revelations...etc,etc..the end of the world...

Still banging away on the keyboard...Then all of the sudden I think about this story....

This morning a few coworkers and Were talking about the story at the morning staff meeting...We couldn't fathom why here, why so big? I started remembering a lot of what was in the show,It's probably not going to get hit by a terrorist, probably a ok spot of there is a huge tidal wave...(Taking out most of the coastline) The New Madrid fault line is a threat, but then again, most scientists thought the damage would run more North - South.

Then as soon as I came home,I saw on yahoos front page a story."Mega mansions without buyers" I skimmed the article, most of them are half the size of this one...

I thought it was an interesting story (very wasteful, but interesting)....What would you do with that much room?

The master bedrooms are bigger than my whole house...Then again, the avg house almost 3 times bigger than my shack Cheesy

I thought it was interesting that most of the 23,000 sq ft basement was for "storage".  Either he's preparing for the end of the world or he's growing one kick-ass marijuana field in his basement.

I don't think he knows anything about 2012.  Just that he is became super rich off of bloated defense contracts and wants to spend a ton of money building the largest house.

That house is being built with the $600 hammers & $1000 toilet seats we got swindled on.

I'll be glad when 2012 finally passes. Either I'll be dead (which wouldn't be because the world ended) and I won't have to hear it anymore or everyone will be wrong and can shut up about it.

No, they'll just move on to the next year that the world is suppose to end.

I agree with the sentiment, and think it will be like Y2K,but find it interesting to hear the predictions made from hundreds,or even thousands of years ago...I don't remember ever hearing about the Hopi (sp?) prophecy till last night...

Does anyone know of even one person....even ONE....that believes anything is going to happen in 2012?  I think this is all made-up from media trying to find news.

I know a person who continually brings it up. I'm not sure if he believes it, but he talks about it quite a bit.

There is no consensus among experts. Professors who have worked on decifering the calendar have said it does nto mean the end of the world, but the end of this age, and a new age is to begin, just as happened in the past.

This must be like the 4th end of the world I've lived through.

I remember my parents watching spanish t.v. and all the talk was about 6-6-96.  I was young then so I really don't remember what it was about specifically, just the devil and the end of days.  Roll Eyes

Of course Y2K and all the crazy "what ifs..."

THEN, since the world didn't end when the year struck '00 surely it had to end in '01 since THAT was the real year (or something.)  Then of course, 9-11 hit and people went bananas with that shit and even found dumbass Nostradamus references and you know the rest.

Now, 2012.  Why?  Because natives predicted it?  I'd believe it's an elaborate media campaign by the makers of the stinkfest "2012" to promote "2013: For Real This Time" starring John Cusack as Jesus before I believe what Natives 9 bajillion years ago predicted.
