Went to the NASCAR race today.. I hate racing but had free tickets so I went, and this was crazy never mind all the trailer trash.. you should see how fast these cars move. On TV they look like they are not moving that quick but there moving!! Loud as shit too!

BUT still boring.. left after like 15 laps

I'll watch a little bit of the Daytona 500.  My dad was big into it when I was young.  I never really enjoyed it that much.  I can watch it for a while because I understand how technical and difficult it is to drive as fast as they do and as close as they do....it really is amazing.  But, it does get boring to watch.

I am able to watch.  There is a peaceful nature to the broadcast.  I find that I used to enjoy watching while doing something else, like a crossword puzzle or something like that, then paying attention when something big happens, like pit stops or crashes or what have you.

Like many other "sports", it's more entertaining when you start to understand the strategy of what's happening and don't just see it as driving around in circles.  It's somewhat similar to UFC in that respect.  To the untrained eye, MMA is often just dudes rolling around on the ground, but there's a lot more subtlety to what's going on if you know what to look for.

I'm a very casual fan. I like to tune in and see track positions, then go do something, check back, and really sit down to watch the last 50 laps or so.

I follow a similar pattern of watching as Phishfan...though I watch mainly because of the Stock Car Challenge fantasy game.

^^My wife has a term for it. She calls it her Nascar nap. She'll watch the start of the race and then take a nap for most of it and then wake up for the last 15 laps or so.  She hates it when she doesn't get in her Nascar nap on Sundays. LOL
