I was hanging out with some friends at a get together tonight, celebrating the new year.  One of them, who I hadn't seen in a long time, is a diehard Colts fan.  He told me the word out of Indy is that Peyton Manning is throwing on a regular basis and they will not cut him this offseason, and will be looking to trade down if they land the top pick in the draft.

Let's hope he's right so the Dolphins will have a chance to trade up.

Peyton is beyond throwing.....he has been in pads in Colts practice the past couple weeks taking snaps with the offense after practice ends getting work in with the first team unit.

1) Indy
2) St.Louis
3) Minny
4) Cleveland
5) Tampa
6) Jax
7) Washington
8 ) Carolina
9) Miami
10) KC
11) Buffalo

And Jax and Washington might flip-flop not sure who is higher. Same with Tampa and Cleveland....BUT Miami is LOCKED in at 9 no matter what

Miami should take the highest rated QB available when they draft. I think Landry Jones will be available. Take him.

But you have KC and Buffalo backwards don't you? Buffalo is 6-10, KC is 7-9.

Not sure he will be there at 9. Lots of QB hungry teams this year ahead of Miami.  If Miami gets Flynn or can't get a QB at 9, whatever they do .....DON'T TRADE DOWN! They need an impact player this time. Trading down passing on Earl Thomas at #12 for Odrick/Misi was a huge mistake, don't make the same mistake.

I would look at (in this order as of today prior to free agency)....big play WR, Pass Rushing OLB, CB.

I don't think there is a Top 10 worthy TE (there almost never is). This Bess injury if an ACL might shelf him for half or most of next year. That makes WR a must. Even if Bess ends up being fine, a big play guy to put opposite Marshall would open up this offense alot. It's a pass happy league, gotta have the horses. Maybe Michael Floyd of ND if he has a good combine and all.

If no WR worthy of going 9th then take a Pass Rusher to play opposite Wake or a CB for opposite Vontae.  Maybe Dre Kirkpatrick the CB out of Bama if he is there.

P.S...yes, Buff and KC is backwards forgot to add the KC win today.

Ben Volin of the PBP just reported the Carolina-Miami tie comes down to a coin flip. Miami could pick 8th. The 2nd tiebreaker doesn't apply since they are in different conferences. There was some confusion on that

Indy, Cleveland, Washington

But Cleveland or Washington could go sign Matt Flynn as well

IND is not sure-fire to draft a QB this year.  That being said, Luck will be taken at that spot, whether it's by IND or by the team IND trades the pick to.

At this point, MIA should also be concerned about STL trading down for someone else to pick RG3.  This draft seems top-heavy at the QB position.

i think there are like 4 teams that can use a QB before miami gets a chance...Colts def!...and i also think Browns, Jags and Redskins.....Fins might be screwed again, if they dont get a top 3 QB in the draft id go for different position. And maybe try free agency.....The top college QBs that stand out r Luck and Griffin, and i dont think griffing would fit the fins anyway..but new head coach so we're screwed anyway.....booooo

Miami is currently 9th. The top 9 pan out as follows:
1. Indianapolis Colts, 2-14
2. St. Louis Rams, 2-14
3. Minnesota Vikings, 3-13
4. Cleveland Browns, 4-12
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4-12
6. Washington Redskins, 5-11
7. Jacksonville Jaguars, 5-11
8. Carolina Panthers, 6-10
9. Miami Dolphins, 6-10

I could certainly see Indy, Cleveland, and Washington taking a QB, and Cleveland has another first round pick, so if they want to move up, I think they could. I don't see McCoy as the long term solution in Cleveland. Aside from the concussion that seems like it is STILL giving him problems a nearly a month later, if you had a chance at Luck, RG3, or a guy with a career QB rating in the 70's and a 1:1 TD:INT ration, who would you choose? Miami's best option may be to roll the dice on Flynn and draft someone at another position. I've seen mocks with Miami doing everything from taking a WR (Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State) to an OT (Riley Reiff, Iowa; an upgrade over Marc Colombo and should be able to start as a rookie) to defense (Nick Perry, DE, Southern California or Quinton Coples, DT, North Carolina). As would be expected, in every mock, Luck and RG3 are gone by the top 5, with a LOT of them having the Browns getting RG3. Despite what most of this board believes/is saying most of the media is reporting that Moore played Miami out of the Luck sweeps and played himself into the starting spot next year. -EK

I don't know about Cleveland. They could take a QB, but I don't think it's for certain. A lot mock drafts that I have seen don't have them taking a QB.

who have done the mocks? Nobody with any insight (ie Mayock, Kiper, McShay) has done a mock yet. So take them with a grain of salt.

Plus they are a west coast offense team, if they sign Flynn they won't draft a QB but they have filled the need

LOL. Mayock. Kiper, McShay. What makes them authorities on the subject? Like they have any more insight than your average pro scout does. I take ALL mock drafts with a grain of salt INCLUDING the ones by these 3 jokers, but that's beside the point. The point is that of the mock drafts I've seen, which are done by guys that have at least a bit more knowledge about the subject than you or I, think that Cleveland may not pick a QB.

Now that doesn't mean they won't and it doesn't mean that Miami will because a lot of the mock drafts I have seen don't have Miami taking a QB either.
